Eminem’s new album, Kamikaze, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart this week. In promoting of his latest project, the Detroit lyricist sat down with Sway Calloway for a one-on-one interview. On Tuesday night (Sept. 11), Eminem drops part one of his discussion with the Shade 45 and MTV host.

In the 12-minute segment, Eminem speaks on the backlash he received for last year’s Revival album, that being a spark when recording Kamikaze, the decision to drop it as a surprise, the social media generation of critics, and the “Chloraseptic” remix sparking Slim Shady to clap back at haters on this album. The conversation also gives a preview of part two of the interview, where Eminem speaks on why he decided to diss Machine Gun Kelly.

UPDATE (9/12): In part two, Eminem opens up on his relationship with Joe Budden who was the biggest critic of Revival. Marshall goes in-depth about the group Slaughterhouse and the issues behind-the-scenes that eventually lead to their hiatus. Em discusses his verbal jab at Budden on Kamikaze and bringing up Joe’s alleged past domestic abuse issues. The Shady Records CEO breaks down his issues with Machine Gun Kelly, who he felt starting sending shots in interviews, an L.A. Leakers freestyle and on Tech N9ne’s “No Reason (The Mosh Pit Song).” Eminem also denies MGK’s claims that he tried to have him shelved.

UPDATE (9/13): In part three of their candid talk, Eminem speaks to Sway about Toronto singer Jeesie Reyez, how he found Reyez and her incredible talent. Em also touches on Dr. Dre’s confusion about Revival‘s negative feedback, his BET cypher freestyle aimed atDonald Trump, secret service paying a visit to his studio shortly after, Nike’s partnership with Colin Kaepernick and the negative reaction some had with the iconic company choosing Kaepernick as the face of their 30th anniversary campaign. The veteran MC closes the 15-minute segment speaking on Tyler, the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt after the two bashed Eminem over the past year.
