Eminem & Royce Da 5′9 With Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg on Hot97 (Full Interview)
Posted by Mikey Fresh under quotes[11] Comments
For the first time in history, the Juan Epstein show hit the road for a very special podcast. Taking their talents to the Motor City, Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg managed to get Eminem and Royce to sit down with them and answer all the rap-nerd questions you could think of. I broke down some cliff notes below.
Bad Meets Evil on Juan Epstein
-Eminem and Royce talking about meeting in ‘97 at an Usher show (Royce was opening and Shady was selling merch).
-The buzz around the Infinite and Slim Shady LP in Detroit when it first dropped
- Em’s early days, ciphers in Detroit, meeting Dre
-They’re writing process, early influences
-Big Daddy Kane and Biz Markie performing for Em’s b-day in 04 or 05.
-Royce doing LL routines for his dad’s friends, rapping for Redman for 14, Em saying Treach was the first big rapper he met
-Royce thinking Eminem is the best MC of all time and the best rapper of all time argument.
-Em considering Pun as one of the GOATS but never meeting him, meeting Dilla a few times, Royce begging tktk for “Boom” even though it was for C-N-N
-Royce writing for Dre, squashing their beef, working with Pharrell,
-their fav Tribe albums, Royce linking back with DJ Premier,
-Em performing with Jay-Z, his name being thrown into the Jay-Z Beef,
-Some of their new favorite Mcs

This is one of the best interviews I’ve ever heard Em and Royce have. Its about time unorthodox question were asked instead of the cookie cutter questions they’ve both answered a million times already.
Now just the Nardwuar interview left.

Rosenberg is hard to listen to in this interview. You think Em cares about your opinions of music and perceptions?

The interview was dope! I wish em and royce would have bought at least a couple Dilla joints for this album. Em was sleeping hard while Dilla was alive. Its wack as fuck that they never collaborated while Dilla was alive.
