(Eminem in Complex last year)

Last night, Shake sent this tweet from Eminem that announced that there would be no Relapse 2 album, but today we got a bit more detail…Its not that he’s canceling the project, it will still come out on June 22, Eminem has just renamed it….Recovery.

more details, big name producers on tap, and an Eminem statement…

after the jump…

Nahright reports:
…apparently Relapse 2 was supposed to be constructed of all the song that didn’t make it onto the first Relapse, but then they went ahead and threw those first few songs from the second project onto The Refill… This name change reflects that this is now a project that stands on its own, but is still in a way linked to Em’s [recent] album.

RapRadar posted this statement from Eminem:
I had originally planned for Relapse 2 to come out last year. But as I kept recording and working with new producers, the idea of a sequel to Relapse started to make less and less sense to me, and I wanted to make a completely new album. The music on Recovery came out very different from Relapse, and I think it deserves its own title.

Nation says that Recovery already has a first single set, produced by Jim Jonsin, along with production by Just Blaze (who has mentioned it a few times on twitter), Boi-1da, DJ Khalil, and the Alchemist. Meanwhile, we’ve already heard that B.O.B. has a collaboration with Em, Drake’s retracted Canadian listening session revealed some Dr. Dre and Eminem work, and who knows what else…the kid is workin’ ; )

UPDATE: here’s the full press release on the album at Eminem’s site.
