One of the most promising new rap collectives, Brooklyn’s Phony Ppl, are setting the stage for their next release… 53,000, a solo album from Elbee Thrie, one of the crew’s hybrid singer songwriter rapper producers. After showing his romantic side on the song “I Wish I Was A Chair,” Elbee channels some vintage Native Tongues style on this new teaser clip, “Nice to Meet Me.” Although brief, the video finds Elbee stripping down for a 100m dash right in front of us, which is maybe a reflection of how “embarrassingly personal” his music is. We’ll see how humiliating he gets when 53,000 drops May 3.

MissInfo: I’ve been checking out the progress of this laid back crew for a while, and I’m super hype because this Saturday, May 20, Phony Ppl will joining me, Michael K. Williams (Yes. OMAR from the Wire), Snoop Pearson, Rosie Perez and the ultimate rant king Funkmaster Flex…at the special Uniqlo x Vice pop-up party in Gansevoort Plaza, NYC! So come hang out with us ; )
