Drama Pending: Gucci Mane addresses Young Jeezy on “My Own Worst Enemy” snippet

So I think that given the long and tumultuous history of beef between Gucci Mane and Young Jeezy over the years…its no surprise that Jeezy gets his snipes in whenever possible (see Rihanna featuring Jeezy “Hard, and Jeezy speaks on “24, 23″)…and you’d expect that Gucci would return the (un)favor on his new album, The State vs. Radric Davis.
So today, this snippet from one of the album’s more controversial songs, “My Own Worst Enemy,” leaked to his fan-mailing list….

How is NY f’d up? we just won the world series Jay and Alicia are performing there hit all over the city… FIF just dropped another classic… The majority of respected hip hop artists come from NY. I keep trying to listen to this man and he continues to disappoint. This whole beef started over a damn SONG. Jeezy wanted the track for his album and Gucci wasn’t trying to give it up. So Jeezy tried to D BLOCK the nigga plain and simple. I don’t even know why Jeezy took it this far for that shitty ass song. But he did and now we are here.
Yes I do remember when Jeezy put a bounty on Gucci chain. Then Gucci got attacked and he had to do what he had to do. But at this point of there careers. Cosign. I didn’t know about Gucci’s hype (IL raised, San Diego currently) until about 6-9 months ago and wanted to give this dude a listen to see if I could ride with it. Everytime somebody says it’s a new hit song with him & Usher/Mariah/whoever, he ruins the song. I’ll keep an open ear but I don’t see that he is living up to the hype yet.

1st Aside from when he says “Gucci!!” this guys isn’t catchy at all and the only reason he is catching on is because of his unexplainable airplay. 2) this heavy airplay can only be 1 of 3 reasons: 1. He indeed is a mean hustler who has a connect in the industry that’s putting him on. 2. He has some kinda dirt on someone big or 3. I hadn’t paid much attention to this blog entry but damn a lot of my fellow NY’ers are making the Empire State look REAL REAL BAD!!!!
I’m not a Gucci fan.And truthfully a majority of todays “Trap Rap” doesn’t appeal to me unless I’m a few drinks in and on vacation. But it kills me to know, and this is a fact, that NY is viewed as being so judgmental, bitter and angry. We had a lock on this game for years. We brought this from the ground up and the minute it grew and spread we got mad.
I grew up on lyricists. That’s what appeals to my ear but that’s not what’s attractive to the commercial/mainstream consumers. Don’t be (too) mad at the artists that work the system. Demand more of the system and your fellow hip hop listeners. Not that they shouldn’t like a particular type of music but to demand the balance we once had not too long ago.

Im from NY and I am a huge fan of Luda,Outkast,T.I,Lil Wayne,Lil Flip,Pitbull the rest I can do without. I think the reason why most of us “Northern” people are used to the fast pace/complex lyrics that we are used to. When someone from the south comes with simple bubble gum ryhmes when as an artist thats “mainstream” you are suppose to be professional. Gucci is Junior Vasity while T.I.,Luda,Wayne are Vasity.
