Drake talks to DJ Drama about “Forever,” his injury, Thank Me Later, Sade etc

(Nikki Minaj and Drake from the set of the “Best I Ever Had” video)
On Thursday night, the homie DJ Drama talked to Drake on his Atlanta 107.9 radio show….and MTV quoted this part of the interview, where Drake discusses the epic Weezy/Kanye/Eminem/Drake collaboration “Forever”: “Everybody does their thing on that song….My favorite line on the song, though, is when Wayne says, ‘Life is such a roller coaster and then it drops/ but what should I scream for, this is my theme park.’…Kanye does Kanye. Eminem raps in a way where nobody might have heard him rap in a long time and says some things that are great for his fans to hear… I’m just happy I held my own.”
Elsewhere, Drake tells Drama that he hopes to get Andre3000 and Sade (?!? take that, Chris Martin) on his upcoming album. (Thanks to Drama for the audio, thanks to Dre for asking for it, lol)

Good Interview.Drake’s humility(at least during conversations) really balances the excessive “he’s the hip hop savior” hype that he has.
I now await the ungodly amount of freestlyes that will done over this Forever beat…

I don’t think he can get Sade on a record, but if he does then that would be a big song.

If this dude gets my wife Sade on a song, it better be the best song of the album if not the whole year. If it’s anything less, Drake will lose me as a fan (like he cares lol)

Really Drake? THAT was your favorite line? Ugh. Is Drake the new Wayne and Wayne the new Baby?

Too corny for me. Thanks to all the dad’s that left their kids alone, you finally produced the number one rap star gay azz, soft azz Drake. All those years searching for the “gay” rapper. Not gay in the homo sense, just gay! SMH, i use to love h.e.r
Gee Roberson make that money, i see you boyeeeeee!

I liked Wayne and Drake’s original verse better. I actually wish this was just a solo Drake record. Too many big names…not enough big shots. Em’s verse was okay. Basically just an overhyped flow (that isn’t that great OR on beat) and no real “damn! Did he just say that?” lines.

I like Kardinal Offishall original version myself, bet Miss Info won’t post that song though, do some reporting and get to the bottom of that, copying, borrowing, biting, whatever to want to call it:

The most interesting part of this to me was his commentary on the canadian health care system and how they have to wait forever for elective surgeries. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side!
Drake is really talented and the mixtape and freestyles are dope, but I can’t get over the feeling that he was handed the game in his lap. It makes sense though. He’s already hollywood (or whatever they call it in Canada) so he knows about PR, creating an image, knows what to say and how to play the game. Plus the whole light skin thing and appeal with the ladies makes him very easy to market for the labels

Wow! The “powers that be” in charge of entertainment are really trying to make this kid a huge star aren’t they?
I literally heard this morning one of my local radio stations say that “Drake is the greatest lyricist of our time”.
Pause.
Wait, what?
He’s NO WHERE NEAR Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, etc. I’m not saying the kid can’t get his fame and get payed, all I’m saying is can people stop making him MORE than what he is?
Tell us “he’s good”. Tell us to “buy his album”. Tell us “he’s making some hits”, but PLEASE stop telling us “he’s AMAZING” or “I’ve never heard an artist like this before” or “he’s the best” etc. I honestly think people get wrapped up in the sound of his voice, forgetting to actually LISTEN to his words.
Bottom line, this over-hyped overrated Kanye/Lil Wayne hybrid can’t disappear soon enough.

better drop that album in december! valentines day is a bit far buddy! unless u gonna be leaking songs every week until then..
btw – i like the fact he got a good answer for everything. most of these ignant rappers cannot conduct an interview to market their own product
and yea..grass definitely not greener on the other side, who would’ve thought u gotta wait hella long for a surgery in CA?

A lot of these comments are sounding like hate comments. I never understood why people check for artist that they don’t like and just post negative remarks. Yes, he’s not the greatest rapper. Yes, he is being overhyped and backed to the fullest by the majors. Yes, he has been making hits(whether you like them or not), and has been mixing with talented acts. If you don’t think that a dude can’t catch a break, then you hating. Cuz he aint do nuttin wrong. He made his mixtapes, two that where unknown to the world. He made a song with wayne, and THAT created his buzz. People went back and checked him out. And yes that mixtape did sound like an album that everyone went to check out when it dropped. Cuz you don’t like him don’t mean he’s wack people get over it. And I don’t even like him like that. Like some dude above me LUPE is best for me.

you seriously people get off that hating shit. i never understood why check for a rapper who you don’t like or don’t support. YES, he is not ever going to be the greatest rapper. YES he is being overhyped and backed by the majors, therefore getting major spins in the radio. and YES, he has been making or featuring in hits(whether you like them or not). if you don’t think a dude like him can catch a break, then its hating. what did he do wrong? he made his mixtapes, two that were unknown to the world. he had a song with wayne that made everyone wonder who he is, thus creating his current buzz. and yes the mixtape did sound like an album that everyone went to check out when it dropped. just cause you don’t like him don’t mean that he’s wack. people get over it, and im not even a fan. like somebody said above me, LUPE is the shit. that’s who i consider the best before ya come and hit me with that “i don’t know real hip hop” nonsense everyone gets when they attack the popular acts

your all kidding yourselves if you think eminem didnt murder this song, keep buying into the lil wayne garbage, goes to show how noone is remotely close to this guy. instead we get people saying the carter 3 is a classic

he’s polished because he’s intelligent and umm…has an education. how many rappers can say that?

Fact Em did kill that verse. He had too, he had no choice his album was kinda trash and despite its initial release hasn’t make any waves in the musical landscape despite a typical and lame beef with the big bad Mariah LOl we all know how Em loves to battle those hip hop heavy weights LOL but anyway He definitely did his thing FINALLY!
Fact The Carter 3 is a classic that’s just a no brainer I’m not even a huge Wayne fan but I would loose all hip-hop credibility if I denied that album c’mon mike like it or not The Carter 3 and Late Reg and Graduation have been the biggest albums in hip-hop music for the last 5 years non in that time have been more anticipated non in that time have been so widely liked churning out hit after hit in that time.
and the final fact of the day Drake definitely has it all together right now all aspiring artist take notes on how to be the complete package of music and self promotion and image if you wanna be successful in the music industry the kid is perfectly polished and that’s a great thing to see for a change cinics are always waiting for artist to fuck up and I’m sure Drake will but right now he’s laying out the blueprint of how to do this thing.
