Drake Says He & Noah ’40′ Shebib Are “Commanding” the Aaliyah Album (UPDATE)

After Sunday’s OVOFest in Toronto, Drake spoke to Much Music about the new posthumous Aaliyah single “Enough Said,” that features his verse and Noah “40″ Shebib‘s beat. But more importantly, Drake made a definitive claim on him and 40′s involvement in the overall Aaliyah project…calling their role “commanding.”
“…the people around [Aaliyah], everybody from her family to her old management and label, were just like, ‘If there’s anybody out who can do it right now, it’s you and 40.’…”
UPDATE: Billboard confirms via Blackground Records that Drake and 40 are officially co-executive producing the album along with the label itself.
Watch Drake speak on the Aaliyah project, and his thoughts on who else should be involved…

Drake talks to T-RexXx/Much Music (spotted at Mr. X)
Drake:
“It’s all off of an Aaliyah project that me and 40 are commanding, and 40 is just doing some incredible incredible music right now. To get 13-14 new Aaliyah songs, everybody should be excited.
It’s not about me, and it’s not about 40, it’s really about her and her fans…and us just getting an opportunity to give you something that we feel is great. And you know, the people around her, everybody from her family to her old management and label, were just like, ‘If there’s anybody out who can do it right now, it’s you and 40.‘ And it was an honor to pull in some classic people, like anybody who used to work with Aaliyah that was essential in her career, we hope to have them involved. So it’s great to have a new Aaliyah album this year on top of everything.“

“…it’s really about her and her fans.” But, the first single has a Drake verse?

Starting to dislike him as a person… these groupies, his friends, his label and… possibly some form of drug has him acting like an ass.

I’m sorry Drizzy but that track is not doing it & if Missy & Timb ain’t “commanding” a new Aaliyah album, then it should not even be discussed. I appreciate you were a fan, as the rest of us are, but her fans do not want this album put together by you or 40 so maybe you should go sit down in a corner & think about what you’ve done
