Always repping his hometown and giving back, Drake is now playing a part in developing potential future basketball stars. On Wednesday (Jan. 17), the 6 God and Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri attended a press conference at the Air Canada Centre to announce the Welcome Toronto program, in partnership with the Canadian NBA franchise. Giving back to the city and the game of basketball in Toronto, the partnership will see the Raptors host a total of six ‘Welcome Toronto’ and OVO-themed home games this season, where the team will wear their new black and gold OVO-edition uniforms and home court this season. Drake and the Raptors are also donating $1 million to refurbish local community basketball courts and another $2 million to Canada Basketball, to help the development of potential future stars.

As this team and Toronto continues to grow, we have seen how much we can do together,” said Drake, who serves as the Global Ambassador for his hometown team. “Welcome Toronto is about celebrating our team and our city, but also working together to give back to the community and creating a place where the youth of our city can come together to play. These same courts could also potentially shape the next generation of Canadian basketball superstars.”

Continue after the jump….
