DJ Khaled speaks on signing with Cash Money
Posted by Mikey Fresh under behind the scenes , interview , quotes[15] Comments
Last week after Khaled announced via Twitter that he officially joined the Cash Money family, I spoke to him in regards to his new situation. Khaled went onto say that the deal had unofficially been on the table for years and that it was all about the right timing. Apparently, his relationship with CMR dates back to when Birdman was slinging CDS and tapes from his trunk.
“It’s definitely official, and I’m just excited about the new deal with Cash Money. Shout to Birdman, Slim. And free Weezy.” Khaled told VIBE. “You know, I’ve always been a Cash Money member, not officially but I’ve been a fan forever.”
“Birdman always loved my work and passion. We’ve known each other for years, and he’s always told me when you fulfill your contract with E1 you always got a home over here,” Khaled explained. “I was going to sign myself, but I called Birdman and he said ‘let’s get the deal done in an hour.’ He just wanted to make it happen.” (via VIBE)

All these artists are going to be bitching about not getting paid in 36 months, mock my words. Everybody wanna hop on that YM/CMB movement while it’s hot and they’ll all shut up about getting no bread because they don’t want to leave the hot ship, but as we saw with Bad Boy, Rocafella, Ruff Ryders, Murder Inc, Death Row, G Unit, No Limit, etc…. Going to the hottest label isn’t always the best thing. I wish Khaled the best though.

I live in Jacksonville, FL (where Khaled’s mom now lives). TRUST ME Baby, don’t want it with that arabic family because they are DEEP. Khaled’s gonna get his money believe that.
SN, he might have pulled this to work something for his boy Ace Hood. I don’t think Baby can run the same hustle he used to… he’s too high profile now…

They won’t do anything. Nobody has done a damn thing to stop Baby and Slim. You honestly think they’re afraid of anyone? Black, white, arabic, asian?
C’mon son!

Fail. That’s like when Crooked I signed to Death Row after it became public knowledge that MCs were being robbed.
DJ Khaled is going to get become huge and broke at the same time. A damn shame. No sympathy for him if down the line he’s crying about not getting properly paid.
