New Music: Diplo x Gucci Mane “Danger’s Not a Stranger (Remix)”

Now this is very cool! I’m a huge fan of Diplo (“Paper Planes,” the MadDecent mvmt, Major Lazer etc) both musically, and personally (he’s hilarious on twitter, and was very cool at the Converse Band of Ballers event I hosted). So his project to remix Gucci’s Cold War mixtapes is fascinating to me. But not surprising, because I hear he’s a big fan of trap music in general, and Gucci specifically. Makes sense, hipsters love hood, lol.

UPDATE: The Village Voice has a totally different take on the Diplo x Gucci remix project, skewering the DJ for the song and his Free Gucci shirt. While I feel them on the “Free” shirts in general, just knowing that Diplo has been a fan of this type of music for years, I think its unfair to discount his work as some kind of diplo-come-lately trendsquatting.

this joint isnt working . diplo is real hit or miss. his work w mia is amazing but when tries to co opt authentic street stuff it just comes off as too much an outsider lookin in. that major lazer stuff/half of it seems to be makin fun of dancehall as well as fetishizing it–one of the vids directed by tim and eric is real coonish in a bad way. if you respect the music why treat it in a tongue and cheek manner? i’m not sayin thats the case w gucci but diplo should be more obsequious in some of his endeavors

Missinfo, you are aging like fine wine baby. I was looking at the pic with Cam and you look just as fine now as you did then (Asians age very well by the way). Did Gucci smell as high as he looked in that pic? The State vs. Radric Davis is a BEAST, for anyone who hasn’t heard.

lol…um, that pic with cam is only 3 yrs old, not 10, lol. But thank you ; ) and nope Gucci def did not smell like weed, he was on leave from rehab at the time so he def seemed clean and sober. Both him and Nicki smelled nice lol
