Did You See Time Magazine’s Controversial Breast Feeding Cover?

Time Magazine caused a stir yesterday after it’s new ‘breast feeding’ cover was released online. It’s depiction of a mother breast feeding her young son at what appears to be an age most of us aren’t comfortable with immediately caused enormous amounts of chatter around the world. The new issue is hitting newsstands just in time for mother’s day…
Some say the there more and more cases of young mothers breast feeding their toddler and older children, but what do you think Time’s controversial cover?

Them kids look to big to be breast feeding,i’m a African American and i know for sure Lakeisha,Shaniqua and Armani do not breast feed they kids this old…just kidding folks,but them kids do look to big!

That fucking kid is like five years old you dont see something wrong with that? No disrespect to anyone but thats some shit you see mostly in white communities and statistically thats a race of people with the most serial killers i see a picture like that and it all makes sense..

You all are missing the worst part. This poor kid will likely never be more known for anything than the kid on the cover of Time sucking his mom’s tit. When he gets older he will be verbally and physically abused by the other kids. Check back in 15 years, this kid is going to be fucked up.

haha! right! TIME knows their doing! they def didn’t go with the ugly mothers around the world that are doing this.
but I definitely feel that kids who get breast-fed this late in age will eventually become sexual deviants. even if they don’t act on it…their minds will be completely fucked going in to puberty especially!

This is better than being malnourish or overweight. Another thing is how many women breast feed I think it’s been on the incline, so this is good look for the cause.. The drink muscle milk tries to replicate breast milk so if you drink that, then you should be on the Times cover too.

I think (and HOPE) these photos were just a one time thing and just done for the shock value. I’ll give these women the benefit of the doubt: I highly doubt that these big kids are still breast feeding regularly. But if I’m wrong, may God bless those kids when they grow up.

TIME really went sensational with the choice of moms though, right?

I think you should have explained the feature article is about “Attachment Parenting” not really about just “breast feeding big kids” and the cover of course is for shock value to sell mags. Not saying I agree or disagree, but it’s out there, maybe you can guide the readers to some sites to gain a little knowledge about it. Then maybe we can get some better dialogue going beyond the immature comments.

I am all for breast feeding as it is not only beneficial in delivering antibodies in building a child’s immunological defences, but building the bond between mother and child. I take issue with the photo in that #1 there is no bond with her child, no holding, no touching. It suggests that she picked someone elses child to breast feed.
#2 the child is too big for age. He looks to be 5-6. By this age children are exposed to sexual imagery in cartoons, commercials, school and friends. #3 her breasts are way too small, it doesn’t seem to me she is still lactating. Hence another sexual – incestuous connotation. Oral fixation of the child and and gratification of the mother. This is why we are creeped out by photo.
#4 where is the husband in the pic? If he was in the photo with hands crossed or in the plain picture , there would not be so many sexual connotations, as she is having relations with him. #5 the expressions of child and mother: the child looking at us, like he’s been caught doing something wrong and the mother looking at us in defiance; so what?
Break down the picture, piece by piece. With society placing sex Ed in elementary schools, could this be another perversion out of the closet? Again breast feeding is excellent, and highly recommended. But that picture does not convey love, the inbreakable bond mother and child through God’s design and purpose. It’s just media’s attempt to corrupt and pervert the family unit once again.

There is too much against breast feeding.
I am from Spain, my houseband half brazilian half french and we travel a lot. Everywhere we go there is people against breast feeding.
I have a 2 year old girl and i am still breast feeding here. Everyone look at me with disconfort, but it is not only now, it was also when my baby was 7 month.
By the way my boobs are not big any more( ansewing to the above message) so i think she might still breast feed her kid.
Off cours in Time mag they are looking for all your comments, they could use a 2 month baby but they took a pic of a 6 year old boy.
I think no kid will have sexual problems because of breast feeding. Many places in the world they breast feed till 4 , 5 years and it is a normal thing. Oir society is way to far from natural way of living, so most mothers give a bottle right after coming from the tammy, so understanding our animal side is not easy for us, but yes, we are animals and out bodies were build for breast feeding, so is a choice to do it or not, and how long you do it is up to the mother and the kid, as i can say is a big sacrifice to do it, it is too easy to give a bottle. So if the mother wants to give up her live for her kid , this is just a choice, and the same with the baby, i know cases where the baby just wanted to stop.
Everyone decide how to do it, everyone should respect breast feeding. Now a days is a choice, and as a choice should be respected.
By the way, i really dont think love and brest feeding can create criminals, might be more a kid who suffered sexual abuses, or a kid who his father hits him everyday… The one that becomes a criminal. Love can never turn into crime.

I forgot to say way i tink how long you breast feed is also a choice. The reasson is because it is not only milk. Is also a medicin, is also the best way to keep the inmune system healty, it is the only thing kids eat wile they are sick, no food no water but they keep drinking mom milk, it is also the only thing that stop the crying when they fall down, when they get a cut or when they kick they head with something. It is also the only thing that keeps them calm when they are stress, it is also a distraction, something that makes them so peacefull….
I cant say i dont think about stoping it, as i think about it everyday, but everytime i see my little girl having a bad time, i can tell she is not ready, and this is my reason for breast feeding, so i guess the lady on the cover might have her own reassons.
Just think this, breast feeding is not easy, and if you compear it with how easy is to give a bottle, which everyone can give, you can only then realise the sacrify.
