Just 12 years after Ben Affleck donned the red costume, Marvel are remaking Daredevil — but this isn’t just another movie reboot, thankfully. Instead, Marvel are transforming “The Man Without Fear” into a series on Netflix, which will be available to stream in full on April 10.

With Boardwalk Empire‘s Charlie Cox taking the lead role, the series chronicles the rise of Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, from blind defense attorney to masked vigilante as he tries to protect New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen from crime lord Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin (played by Vincent D’Onofrio). Rosario Dawson and Deborah Ann Woll co-star.

However, unlike the film, the series will feel more like a crime drama than a traditional superhero movie. “We really wanted to take our cue from [films like] The French Connection, Dog Day Afternoon, Taxi Driver, and make it very, very grounded, very gritty, very real,” showrunner Steven S. DeKnight told Entertainment Weekly.

Daredevil is the first of four Marvel shows coming to Netflix this year. Watch the trailer below.
