Danny Brown is without doubt one of the craziest characters hip-hop has ever seen. I mean, dude has songs like “Adderall Admiral” and has even known to get oral satisfaction on stage from time to time. But for all his party antics, the Detroit rapper is a deep thinker at heart.

Just take his latest album, Old, which juxtaposed the MDMA-fueled bangers with sobering and introspective records that echoed his early work. By the sounds of it, that might be the last time we’ll see Danny slip into a kush coma.

Catching up with Noisey while out in London recently, Danny talked about his plan to curb his drug use and, well, grow up. “It was just getting to a point where Danny Brown was taking over Daniel. Now it’s time for Daniel to take over Danny Brown,” he said. “I’m not trying to be ratchet no more. It’s time to grow up.”

However, he added, “I guess that’s a lie, cause at the end of the day, I just want to have fun.” Who knows? Maybe Danny’s just too stuck in his ways at this point. Whatever the case, you can guarantee this man will deliver good music.
