lol, the wine from those sour grapes is ready…
In a recent interview with Sohh.com, Dame says:
“Every time I hear Jay-Z is making a record I get excited because I’m a fan of him as a rapper. But it’s almost like when you hear [Michael] Jordan is coming back to the league, happy-sad, like ‘Damn man, he’s coming back but his knee is not the same!’” Dash said. “I hope he does a good job, I hope he comes back and does right by it.”
But Dash is not convinced that Jay-Z’s early attempts at recreating old successes will meet the high standards he remembers of early Jigga.
“If Jay is gonna come back with that Reasonable Doubt, @#!* let’s do it,” Dash continued. “I don’t care, because overall I’m a fan, regardless of what he did and how he did it, but if he doesn’t bring the ruckus and it’s ‘I’m getting it…’ [mockingly reciting the chorus to Jay's new single "Blue Magic"], how would you feel?”
Oy. That plus this equals… tart aftertaste.

I want to say that After reading this I must say that Dame is taking the high road on this. I mean even after everything that happen with him, biggs, and Jay he still is a fan. I got to admitt I was shocked to hear Dame say this. I guess he has truely grown up and said you know what “you can’t hate on greatness” but he is right I hope Jay does go in on this album and not put out an album just cuz he say a movie and said I want to drop an album. I hope he is really on that “Reasonable Doubt” Shit. O and for the record everytime a rapper that I like comes out with an album what I do is listen to all the albums that they came out with just to see how they grew and switched it up and if the new albums isn’t up to par then its a bust to me.

LMAO @ the first people…LOL
out of all the hip hop beef, this is one beef i wish would just be handled behind closed doors and they come back out blazing. It’s one thing when rappers that don’t know each other fall out, but when two friends fall out that’s different. Wasn’t Jay his kid’s Godfather or something. I still contend this was done out of business and they are still very much coo behind closed doors…but i doubt it…wishful thinking…I’m just a HUGE fan of the dynasty…Hip Hop needs it back!

I was suprised Jay came wit Blue Magic. you’d think he would put out somethin fresh
instead of doing what everybody else is doing. We know he dont need the money, so that just proves he aint at the same level as back in the days. Nas aint lost his skills I dont think I can say the same for Jay.

A yo Info, on a side note, I’m checking for ya man D. Cole’s Big Dough Rehab. I go by the myspace page and it’s got the link to G.F.com thru Def Jam. I figure o.k. they’ve got to have the latest shit and be up to date with the goings on. They still have the Amy Whinehouse joint on the page pushing More Fish. Alright…they gotta have the new shit on the Nas album right…that’s what’s poppin right now…right? Nah, that lame ass last single, and H.H.I.D. shit. But on a lark I check Jay. You can pre-order American Gangsta. Even Free and Beans have newer joints up there. The lable’s got a long history of sticking it to their artists, (who in the inds. doesn’t?) but that’s just not right.

Some one needs to remind you to go back to finish high school. Without Dame Jay-z wouldn’t be who he is today. Dame was the mastermind behind the ROC Jay was just the face of it.

Dame brought you Roc-A-Fella thats why he’s relevant in the game. Say wht you want to say about dude but he showed loyalty to Jay throught he’s whole career.
in life people grow apart, ya dig and their outlook in life changes too so a conflict in ideas is likely to break up a winning team, y’all seem to forget a few years Roc-A-Fella was the hottest record label, State P projects was crazy, the dynasty era. e.t.c
When you a ustler like Dame it doesn’t take long to find a new hustle and Dame will be back. Just like Cam thought he had a say in wht Jim does but Jim clearly making his own moves and you’ve got to respect his gangsta.

At the end of the day, jay’s an artist, so he can do whatever he wants whether the fans like it or not. We have no control over him and if you don’t like his music than keep it moving. I kind of liked the answer he gave in XXL about art being subjective b/c people forget that. He ain’t ever going to make another Reasonable Doubt, people need to get over that.
As for Dame, there was no need to mock his rap in the new song. He sounds bitter.

Miss info, i actually agree with dame cause if jay isn’t bringing that old reasonable doubt flow and swagger back, I’ll probably wait for you to give me the download link lmao. but here’s the double-edge sword effect; is it better for jay to go back to the reasonable doubt era or should hova just be who he is at his current (blue magic & roc boyz)? I’m not really intrigued by the blue magic and roc boyz songs even though they are really good but for some reason, they sound like mixtape songs. What’s your take on this miss info? respond pretty please cause I want your take on this conundrum.

okay, let me rephrase my question….why is dame relevant TODAY? Reasonable Doubt isn’t getting re-released. There is no Reasonable Doubt part 2 coming. Dame was always a dude behind the scenes, he helped build the Roc, yada, yada, yada. The Roc split, the good artists stuck with Jay, what else is there to say?

Well Damon isn’t exactly being gracious in his comments, comparing Jay-Z to a broken Jordan. This isn’t a compliment but I expected worse from Damon.
Damon would’nt be where is without Jay Z, but then neither would Jay. Damon is the Hip Hop businessman. Its about business and Damon is good at that. He is a millionaire after all.

So if Jay-Z puts out a grown man album, people hate and say its not like old Jay.
Then, he puts out a dope boy anthem “Blue Magic” and people hate because its like everyone else.
I think most of these young hip-hop fans who discuss hip-hop on the internet need to remember that
1) Big and Pac died when they were under 26 years old.
2) Pun died after 2 albums
3) Nas hasn’t had an amazing album in a long time
Jay-Z has put out mutliple platnium albums, and has given us fire for more than a decade. Name me another rapper that good for that long.
Would people be happy still hearing about the 98 Lexus and bricks from a guy who is worth $400 mil? How about a pimp anthem from someone who is in every magazine with the hottest R&B chick who he is handcuffed to?

Jay-Z is going through a similar situation like 50 Cent both of them have aquired alot of wealth and the core fans can’t relate to them anymore.
These dudes aint just rapping about making a few grand to look flashy, get whips to impress the ladies, they stepped up their game and are in a whole different league, if 50 or Jay rapped about selling drugs to by jewellery the average fun would bop their head to those bars, if they rap about investing stakes in companies and making money off their investments some fans be like, whut? Huh? These bars is going over peoples heads.
I have the old Jay on my disc changers, ipods e.t.c I like the new Jay he can actually say anything materialistic without being questioned. That is real hip-hop not fantasy money. So when the Forbes 1-2-3 say I, I, I get it its sooo evident.

Jay like 40yrs old too why would he be rapping about things he did 20yrs ago? Jay’s hustle is being the boss of defjam selling music, finding new talent and keeping rocawear alive plus his other ventures his corner boy duffle bag boy days are over. That Jay ended his career with The Black Album.

Lone Gunner…..prrrrrrreeeeeaaaaaach….I agree 100%. The major problem with HIP HOP in general is that ppl don’t regonize greatness until its gone. There weren’t this many Pac or BIG fans when they were alive, thats for sure. Jay said it himself “How can I win / It’s like they got me fighting ghost”
Off topic: The other problem with HIP HOP….it’s the only genre where a guy can have 1 or 2 MIDLY successful singles and think they’re in the same league as a guy who has MULTIPLE PLATINUM AND classic ALBUMS AND MONSTER SINGLES. ( examples: lil wayne, cassidy, cam’ron, jim jones….all throwing shots at Jay..lol). Do all those dudes combined even have 2 Million sold? or ONE CLASSIC ALBUM?…..lmaoooo

a-yo, Miss Info, eff all this Rocafella talk…Joe Camel’s gonna get his shine regardless…can we get a confirmation on this:
“KRS-One Set to Appear on VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club”
XXLMAG.COM has learned that legendary MC KRS-One will appear on the upcoming season of VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club. The network’s reality series, which has already ran for five successful seasons, follows various overweight celebrities as they are split into teams to see who can lose the most weight. KRS follows in the footsteps of rappers like Biz Markie, Bonecrusher, Bizarre, Young MC, Warren G and Da Brat, all of whom have appeared on the show. While the details of the new sixth season remain unclear, a VH1 rep confirmed that the Bronx-bred rapper will be a part of the new cast.
jeez…i think it’s a wrap. multi-media conglomerates whoring out our elders, hip-hop police/cointelpro gettin’ superstars hemmed up…”I don’t know what else to say” © Biggie

AAHHHHH JAY-Z, WHERE TO BEGIN. We can all talk about the man to death. Some disagree/agree with the desicions he’s made over the past couple years. Just put out the quality artist on your roster before you put out 2 of your own as an exec. wheres peedi? He been ready. Glad to see Segal and free gettin a lil burn. Can kanye finish promoting graduation before you watch a movie and decide to put out an album backed by a tour? I have not seen any executive decisions towards any other hip hop acts made by jay accept for his own projects.

first of all gunner, people always hate. i believe people are on one side or the other. if there are people arguing both sides, they need to be shot. anyway, there are people who don’t like the grown man talk. there are other who don’t like the grimey talk. i like both. the reason I didn’t like Kingdom Come that much was b/c i didn’t think Jay was that creative. i’m not even going to talk about content, because HOW you spit is just as key to What you spit.

My main point is that big and pac recorded all their material during a small period of time, in the mindset of men under 25 years old. Who knows what they would have sounded like at 36-37, with hundreds of millions.
Who are the greatest solo rappers of all time? They either died (big, pac, pun, big l), fell out of the light and/or fell off (Kane, Rakim, G Rap, Nas, Wu-tang solo efforts), or fell back from spitting (Em, Scarface…etc). Other rappers may get there, or I may have forgotten them above, but who else has done it like Jay?
I am not even a huge Jay-z fan, but you gotta give credit where credit is due. He stays relevant and on the charts in some form for 10+ years, and stays lyrical with it.
Thats just my 2 cents.

Why is veryone so quick to talk about JAy’s business moves, what about Dames business moves, i’m not a Jay Z stan or wateva yall wanna call it, but what about dame just appointing Cam VP and thats the issue i can clearly point out, that was shady to me, and there has to a whole other list things building up between these guys. Point is, thre is always two sides to a story, but everyone is quicker to go against who’s on top.
BLUEPRINT 2: “I see I said, Jelousy I said, got the whole industry mad at me I said….”
Ms. Info you should post that Jay Z xxl article,a pretty good interview i think…?

@ super h8 #47, damn, i couldn’t have said it better myself. No one, well, I’m not saying Jay need to step down from his throne. Like 50’s first line on I Get Money….Took quarter water/sold it in bottles for two bucks/coca-cola came and bought it for billions/ what the fuck. that whole song actually. “you tryin’ to buy gucci/i’m tryin’ to buy the mall”. All these things speak to that next level of economics that 50, Jay, and Diddy have stepped into. There is never a shortage of things or subjects to talk about, it’s the delivery and presence, among other things that sets the top guys apart. The way Jay got down on the Forbes Remix was sick!!! Jay had NOTHING like that on Kingdom Come. Dudes have been talking about cash and cars for a minute now. Actually, there’s a generation of folks that have ONLY been exposed to bling rap, which is sad. Regardless, Jay can still be slick. I don’t quite get the “talking over the fans heads” thing. We know what’s going on, we see the news, some of us even read the papers and magazines. But there is a certain freshness that is to be expected when said artist comments on situations pertaining to his very public life.
very good points lone gunner…god, i can’t imagine what the game would be like with Pac and Biggie alive right now. Damn, Biggie and Jay making classics. Pac, 50, and eminem, whew…..why god why?!
