Cuban Links 2 begins its approach: Raekwon and Ghostface “The Jihad”

Last week, Rae sent me this new street single off his upcoming Only Built for Cuban Links 2 album, which I’ve been waiting for since…oh…maybe 1997 (the original held me down for at least 2 years). This is not the official single, but more of a pre-single. Still, with Ghostface on there too, its a taste of the rest. I actually think the old songs that leaked last year were even crazier but Rae says he has more heat to come, including tracks from Dr. Dre, Pete Rock, Rza, and J.dilla. Nice!
Rae asked to give it to Flex to debut first, out of respect. He played it last nite, so here you go.

While not a bad track, it sounds more like something off of Ghost last albums. Regardless I’m still feening for Cuban Linx 2…I need a re-up of that Purple Tape !

This is the hip hop that I grew up on and love that real gritty lyrical shit..Not like this pop tart shit thats out now…chef, ghost kept it NY and can appreciate that real hiphop

the track is fire it reminds me something off of ghost face first album “iron man”.well in that pic rae seems happy and healthy.cant wait for the cuban link 2 album.with rae droping, dr dre droping,jadakiss droping,nas droping soon i think rap is gonna change by the end of the summer a new chapter will begin.much love too everyone peace…..

It’s always good to hear the Gods together on any track, but I always question Rae’s beat selection. In my opinion, ever since Cuban Links (maybe Immobilarity), the tracks have been sub-par. Lyrically, they both rarely disappoint, but I think Ghost has a better ear musically, or maybe just a taste thats more similar to my own. That’s why I think Ghost has had a much more successful solo career than Rae, it’s the beats, because he still spits fire.

I’ll admit it, I’m hooked! Top Chef is now My favorite reality show!! Really started watching this season & I’m addicted! How do I spend My day off? Watching a Top Chef Marathon on Bravo…and I’m a straight Guy lol.
