Cory Gunz Talks Rick Ross Jacking LP Title, Nicki Goes Platinum, Pusha says Fear Of God drops next month
Posted by Mikey Fresh under for fashion-hounds and obsessive consumers[22] Comments
Yesterday, Rick Ross announced the title of his next LP as God Forgives, I Don’t.
However, hip-hop heads across the board couldn’t help but bring up that fact that Young Money emcee Cory Gunz has been working on a project with the same title for over 3 years.
Cory Gunz Interview On Shade45 (via RapRadar)
“It was really a bit frustrating because I was really sticking with that title for a minute whether it was for the EP or album. But at least I should be honored that somebody who is at their pinnacle right now is thinking the same,” Cory told Sway and Heather B on Shade45 earlier this morning in regards to Ross’ swagger jack.

However, Cory held virtually no animosity toward the Miami based rapper.
“I fucks with Ross, I don’t have no problems with him. I judge off hot music. I don’t go on anything else. To me, he got some of the hottest mixtapes out right now, and he’s making good music regardless of what the situation is,” he continued. “I’m not bitter about the title, it happens all the time. Some of the best stepped on niggas necks to stay at the top.”
The rapper is currently working on two mixtapes Bring The Gunz Out and Sun Of A Gun for release later this year.

2. Nicki’s Pink Friday goes Platinum

(Props Hillary Crosley via MTVRapFix)
“Nicki Minaj is on the cusp of releasing her “Moment 4 Life” video, and the Queens native is celebrating 2011 in style — platinum style, that is.
Barbie’s debut album Pink Friday has garnered 851, 841 to-date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The first official LP by the MC has gone platinum after just six weeks on the shelf and even Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, also released on November 22, has only sold approximately 30,000 more units than Nicki thus far.”
3. Big shouts to Karen Civil, who invited Pusha T to call into her Shade45 radio show with DJ Wonder. Check out the interview below.

Pusha T talks about his New Years plans that went awry. More importantly, he went in depth about the vibe around his career since signing with G.O.O.D. Music. The album – which will feature production from Kanye, Swizz, Pharrell and more – is set to drop this fall, but in the meantime we can expect to see the Fear Of God mixtape next month. He promises it will be well worth the wait with old instrumentals, new ones and original production. To quote Pusha, he’s “taking that whole dynamic of the ’95 mixtape competitive spirit and just going in on everything.”
“The Virginia native proclaims none of the tracks from his mixtape will not appear his album and hopes this will expose him to fans from all walks of life. As far as the relationship with his brother Malice is concerned, they are “not breaking up” and he even sheds light on their recent touring in Australia and how much love they received. Lastly, he addresses why he has donned the name “Slander P.”

She sold 851,000 and she went platinum? I like how labels manipulate numbers and stats.

platinum certification always refers to the amount shipped.
from riaa’s site: “The certification process begins with an independent sales audit of each title by Gelfand, Rennert & Feldman, a highly respected accounting firm that has been auditing title sales for the RIAA® for more than 20 years. The audit calculates what product has been shipped for sale, net after returns, versus product used for promotional purposes, for the life of the release.”
labels shouldn’t have to explain it, that’s the kind of thing that people who don’t work for labels don’t even need to know. shouldn’t effect how you feel about the music. and, if you have a burning desire to know, you should learn how to use google.
not clear if pre-orders on the digital side count towards platinum. don’t care much.

The moment the label ships the CD (a million) it means that they sold a million. After that its up to the stores (target, best buy, walmart, etc) to sell their innovatory. But the label officially sold 1 million copies. So the numbers are accurate. Now depending on how Nicki structured her deal is how much she’ll see from each album sold. I hope she owns her masters (probably not).
The way the industry is now she may have to give up some of her touring money too. I hope she didn’t sign that (i think its called a 360 deal). If so she gives up some of her touring money & that’s how the artist makes their money.
The labels make close to $10- 15 million off the album. Minus their cost of budget, advertising, production, etc.
Miss Info please clarify if im off base.

Damn, I should’ve went into the industry instead of education, lol. I heard the Black Jew Drake was smart and got his masters in his deal.
When will artist learn that this is business 1st & talent 2nd. You can be the most talented artist & get raped by these labels.
Sidenote: Rappers & artist get a credible & reliable accountant 1st & financial advisor. A million $ means you owe the government 40% or $400,000. So you only have $600k- 20% (120K lawyers & agents). So that’s only $480K- that Bentley & jewlry, clothes, entourage, paying off old debt & buying your 1st house (20% down). So you Million is now gone!!!!! Now you gotta make another album.
You better pray your album sells too or (360 you go)

YOU HIT THE MARK AGAIN
FINALLY SOMEBODY THAT KNOWS THE BUSINESS OTHER THAN MYSELF HOWEVER I DON’T THINK DRAKE OWNS HIS MASTERS BASED OFF THE FACT THAT HE DID GET SIGNED FOR A MILLION PLUS, THERE S NO WAY YOU GET SIGNED FOR THAT AMOUNT OF MONEY AND OWN YOUR MASTERS BUT IF HE DOES OWN HIS MASTERS THAN THAT MEANS HE DOES NOT OWN HIS CATOLOG OR PUBLISHING NO RECORD LABEL LET YOU HAVE EVERYTHING, THE RECORD INDUSTRY IN TERMS OF SELLING RECORDS IS THE MORE YOU MAKE THE MORE THEY TAKE SO IF YO GO PLATINUM CHANCES ARE YOUR NOT SEEING EVEN CLOSE TO HALF OF THAT MONEY THE LABEL WOULD EAT ABOUT 85 TO 87 PERCENT OFF YOUR ALNUM AND YOU WOULD HAVE TO PAY BACK WHATEVER YOU OWED WITH THAT 15 TO 13 PERCENT YOU HAD REMAINING BUT YOU WOULD OWN YOUR TOUR MONEY,MERCHANDISE MONEY, ENDORSMENT DEAL MONEY, OR WHAT EVER ELSE MONEY
LIKE YOU SAID THE LABEL WAS RAPING YOU BUT YOU STILL HAD A GREAT CHANCE OF EATING OF TOUR MONEY
HOWEVER THAT WAS THE OLD WAY NOW LIKE YOU SAID THERES A THING CALLED 360 CONTRACTS NOW, AKA THE NIGGA DEAL AKA THE SELL YOUR SOUL DEAL AKA THE I’LL NEVER REACH MY FULL POTENTIAL DEAL, AND PEOPLEEEEEEE ARE SIGNINGGGGGG THIS DEAL I DON’T GET ACTUALL I DO GET IT THEY DON’T KNOW THE BUSINESS THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN DEMAND ANYTHING AND NOT BE UNDER A 360 CONTRACT IS IF YOUR REALLY HOT ON THE STREETS AND RADIO WITHOUT A RECORD LABEL WHICH IS EXTREMLY POSSIBLE OR IF YOUR ESTABLISHED AND COULD AFFORD TO SAY F THE LABEL I FEEL SORRY FOR THEM CATS THAT’S SIGNED TO ROC NATION OR ATLANIC OR ANY LABEL PRACTICING THIS BUSINESS MODEL YEAH JAY-Z WILL SIGN YOU BUTTT THAT’S AS FOR AS IT WILL GO I’M A ARTIST AND I’M GLAD I KNOW THE BUISENESS IF THERE’S SOMETHING I’M MISSING OR IF THERE’S SOMETHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO ENLIGHTNED ME ON HERE’S MY EMAIL JYNXITAYLLOVE@GMAIL I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR INPUT

Hey trevor. You know I’m on my hate train now. How is this garbage chick going platinum and not kanye? Somebody plz explain. Her reviews were horrible, so who the hell is buying this gimmick. I can’t call it. Why didn’t her barbz take her to # 1? Ppl said she has 2 million twitter fans, so what they didn’t go to the store. She has no # 1 singles, these numbers are bogus. I’m not falling for this, cuz I know the tricks behind the scenes with the industry. You know damn well baby and slim are buying those records like crazy. Let’s see what she does in 2 yrs, IF she is still relevant to ppl. I will be watching those numbers. *side eye look* glad to see you back trevor, I needed somebody to talk to. Lol

I will never embrace her until she gets real. I don’t see that happening no time soon. You still didn’t answer my question. What about kanye? Where is his platinum plaque, cuz clearly he is selling more than her. She only had 1 single to reach # 1,nothing else. Again where are her barbz? Those numbers are fake, you cannot tell me different. Baby and Slim are filthy rich. That money is being spent very well. .

@pookie
He has sold more, im not sure if he shipped more. Baby and SLim dont own any music stores to purchase boxes of cd’s. Baby and SLim cant purchse boxes of cd’s IN stores cause it wont count toward the total .I explained that in another thread on here somewhere. SO this is where she actually stands and Im guessing from trends and sales, the retail outlets feel they should replenish stock in their inventories.
The numbers are not fake no matter ow much you want it to be, they are scanned and calculated.

about the Ross album name jacking, I think Cory should feel some kinda way about it. not the politically correct response he gave! Ross is cool with those YM guys…thats not cool about the album title at all. maybe Ross felt comfy doing it cause he knows Cory’s album may never see the light of day…who knows

How can Rick Ross jack Coreys title ‘God forgives, I dont’ after all 50 cent has done to Ross?!
All Ross did was ignore it all! He tryna sound all bad when he can’t even stick up for himself.
