Common Unleashes New Drake Diss: “You A B–ch”

The “beef” between Drake and Common just got turned up another notch this morning. At the start of 2011, we saw the rap vet and the Young Money rapper get locked into a battle of subliminal jabs. Initially, Comm set it off by calling out Drizzy on “Sweet” and then confirming his shots in an interview with Sway. It wasn’t until last Friday where we heard Drake fire back with his own subliminal disses on Ross’ “Stay Schemin.”
“I just ask that when you see me, you speak up ni–a that’s all/Don’t be ducking like you never wanted nothing. It’s feeling like rap changed, it was a time it was rugged/Back when if a ni–a reached it was for the weapon, nowadays ni–as reach just to sell they record.”
Common wasted no time in firing right back and making this battle official. On the newly released freestyle Chi-Town’s finest raps over “Stay Schemin” (via MTV RapFix)

This could be actually a nice Hip Hop battle.
If Drizzy don’t hold back he can eat Common alive let’s see if he got it in him.
If winning this could be a great longevity push for his career not that I think he necessarily needed one.

YUP! Finally… Stupid excited about this. I’m rockin with Common on this one, because, you know, I’m an adult male over 25… Thing is, if Drake is on his game, he could win this. Hold on a sec…..you need to check my past posts on this blob before you start yappin about my hiphop knowledge. I’m comparing Ice Cubes “word play” to that of Gucci Man of today. They make popular songs but have NO LYRICAL ABILITY!!! The reason why Common had a problem with hiphop at the time (when the west was holding it down)was that it was losing its soul…..part of that soul is lyrics people….Ice Cube does not have any lyrical wordplay…at all…that is why it was unfair for him to be in a battle with a lyricist PERIOD! My point was Common didn’t have a true lyrical battle with Cube; he will have one with Drake. Drake is “lyrical” enough to go toe to toe with Common. What is your proof that he isn’t?
So check yourself before you wreck yourself……

Honestly. That “you so black and white/ trying to live a n*gga’s life” line was offensive. I know you have issues with the man, but this was offensive on more than just a personal level.
Maybe, I’m hearin it wrong, (in fact, I hope I’m hearing it wrong) but bringing race into this whole thing was just … i don’t know.
Common got me burnt up with that one.

yea i think common is mixed also.i like the diss song but i think hes trying to say drake is acting more white then black while common acts more black than white if thats what you wanna call it. but i kno common is from chi and if u act a certian way ppl treat u wrong. wer drake grew up same thing but in reverse.thats not how i see it but to those that treat ppl like that.

It has nothing to do with being mixed race. He’s merely saying the kid is trying to be something he’s not, a tough guy.
And at the end of the day rap music is still black culture. So the lyrics will always reflect that. The music transcends race but to act like it isn’t black culture is naive.

I can’t hear the line “you so black and white/ trying to live a n*gga’s life” and NOT think that he’s commenting on mixed race. Especially given that the person he’s talking about is mixed race.
No one’s arguing that hip hop isn’t black culture, but to think that the “black and white” line is just merely saying that drake is a phony tough guy? THAT is naive.
