Common has made some major announcements this morning. Not only has he made his new deal with Def Jam/Artium Records (his long-time friend and collaborator No I.D.’s imprint) public, the veteran Chicago rapper has revealed that his forthcoming album, Nobody’s Smiling, will arrive on July 22.

No I.D. is executive producing the project, which features appearances from some of the best rising talent in rap including Ab-Soul (“Made In Black America“) and Vince Staples (“Kingdom“). Nobody’s Smiling serves as the follow-up to Common’s 2011 LP, The Dreamer/The Believer, which was released through Warner Bros. Records.

Says Com Sense of his new deal:

I’m honored to team up with No I.D. and be a part of the Artium and Def Jam family. ‎Creating this album and signing to Def Jam feels like a new beginning for me. I feel like a new artist because I created this album with the purpose to give back to my city and to the culture of hip hop. Def Jam is part of the foundation of hip hop and being able to work with No I.D. was returning to my foundation now with new energy and new hunger.
