During a recent appearance on Live! with Kelly and Michael, the Oscar-winning rapper/actor revealed that he’s begun work on his 11th album with two special talents in particular: Karriem Riggins and Robert Glasper. “I’m so excited,” he said (3:10). “I’m working on a new project with this great, talented producer named Karriem Riggins. Man, I just feel good about the music. And Robert Glasper, whose a great musician, a pianist. I’m working with them.”

Riggins, a drummer by trade, recently produced Kanye West’s “30 Hours” while Common collaborated with Glasper on 2013’s “I Stand Alone.” Both men are proficient at blending hip-hop with jazz and soul, which is exactly the kind of combination that brings the best out of Lonnie Lynn (see: Like Water For Chocolate, Be).

The forthcoming album will serve as the follow up to Common’s 2014 LP Nobody’s Smiling, which was produced entirely by No I.D.
