Comments on: Chubb Rock’s Obama tribute song

I don’t feel the song, but I dig the sentiment. As for the Kennedy and Lincoln references, those are clear and the reason for them are obvious – both were men of the people, interested in change, interested in common ground and most importantly, likable.

Obama is all of those and the comparisons are apt.

Wow, that was questionable.

And these Lincoln and Kennedy comparisons are ubiquitous. I’m assuming it’s because Lincoln is perceived to be the most liberal of presidents? And Kennedy, OK, a martyr for our times, but… Whatever, it’s not time for a history lesson.

So far though, Obama seems like more of a blank canvas for people to project their hopes, desires, and beliefs upon than a man. I think him being in office is great as a gesture of equality, but don’t get ahead of yourselves, and don’t forget… he’s a politician.
