New Music: Chase N. Cashe “I’m the Man 2.0,” Plus Meyhem Lauren and Devin Miles
Posted by Andy B. under new music[3] Comments
Having joined Drake on his Club Paradise tour and released two projects (the DJ Drama-hosted The Heir Up There and his debut album, CHARM), Chase N. Cashe hasn’t made it easy on himself topping last year. Nevertheless, the Surf Club producer-rapper opens his account in 2013 with this heavy new track, “I’m The Man 2.0,” which hears him shout out A$AP Rocky, rep his native New Orleans and detail every way in which he’s “sh*ttin’ on foes” over a horn-laced trap beat (self-produced, of course). Chase’s new project, Heir Waves, is coming soon.

New Music: Meyhem Lauren “Lo-Down”

After taking shots at Pitchfork for giving his Mandatory Brunch Meetings a poor review last month, Meyhem Lauren continues to prove why he ain’t nuthing ta f*ck wit. On the Frank The Butcher and Paul Mighty-produced “Lo-Down,” Action Bronson’s partner-in-rhyme absolutely punishes a grimy, throwback beat, proving that New York rappers can sometimes still make New York-sounding hip-hop. This is the first leak off BAU’s All Is Fair project, dropping this April.

New Music: Devin Miles “Under Your Spell” (Prod. by Flying Lotus)

“This isn’t off any of my upcoming projects… just something I felt like you all needed to hear and can feel,” explains Pittsburgh up-and-comer Devin Miles of his new freebie. “Under Your Spell” finds the MC gliding effortlessly over an infectious Flying Lotus beat. Devin’s debut LP, This Is How I Live (featuring contributions from Cardo, ID Labs and Chase N. Cashe), is out now.

I feel like Chase N. Cashe is the male Azealia Banks. A lot of bluster, a lot of dumb Twitter beefs – but the music is always lacking.
I recognize the Surf Club had some heat, but I’m not sure how much of that was Chase N. Chase and how much was Hit Boy.
