By now it should be obvious that Chance The Rapper doesn’t play by the industry rules. He’s turned down every major label offer, opted against joining Eminem’s Rapture Tour and isn’t choosing to capitalize on the hype by prepping his debut solo album. Nope, instead the Chicago wunderkid is bringing his trusted Social Experiment band — consisting of Donnie Trumpet, Peter Cottontale and more — into the spotlight with an official collaborative project.

We’ve already heard the OG version of his record with James Blake, and now Chano serves up the second slice of the Social Experiment with “Home Studio (Back Up In This B*tch).” Recorded back home in Chicago, Chance lets the creative juices flow where they may, yelping and shrieking over funky production from his band. “Young black boy, how he got the labels scared/A&Rs like, Chano, you ain’t playing fair,” he sings.
