Michael Jackson’s personal doctor Dr. Conrad Murray (a heart doctor turned bedside sleepy-time fairy dust distributor) has been found guilty of the “involuntary manslaughter” of the King of Pop in June, 2009. According to USA Today, one of the gazillions of news outlets who covered this two month trial:

‘[Prosecutor David Walgren] said Murray caused Jackson’s death through acts of “criminal negligence” in using a hospital-grade drug for insomnia in Jackson’s home without proper monitoring and resuscitation equipment. Murray also acted negligently in delaying 20 minutes before calling 911, attempting CPR incompetently and failing to tell rescue personnel he had used propofol, Walgren said.

A negligent failure to act can be involuntary manslaughter under California law. Walgren adopted this theory, too, saying Murray had failed to fulfill a doctor’s legal duty to care for a patient.

According to reports, Murray will serve time in a county jail, but it will be around half of his actual sentence. He faces up to 4 years, but Harvey Levin of TMZ speculates that at the end of the day, Murray will end up on house arrest. (Not surprising since Lindsay Lohan just served 4.5 hours of her 30 day sentence last night. ) The judge specified that none of the jurors are allowed to get paid or “benefit” from speaking about the trial for 90 days.

Clearly this doctor’s ineptitude and um….elastic code of conduct, contributed to the death of Michael Jackson. But it also seems to me that all the people around MJ, and MJ’s own decisions played an important part in enabling Jackson’s ridiculous lifestyle, and in giving Murray so much responsibility in his world.

Occupy Wall Street, the protest that many of us didn’t quite get at first is entering its 4th week and picking up steam, sympathizers, celebrities, and more definitive foci. The main point for the thousands of participants, some of whom have been camped out in rain and shine in Manhattan Financial District’s Zuccotti Park, seems to be….the 99% of struggling working citizens vs. the 1% “ruling class” which controls an inordinate amount of the world’s wealth (see inequality diagrams here). There is tremendous backlash against bank bailouts, corporate crime, executive golden parachutes, military overspending, media punditry, and unemployment woes (i.e a record 4.5 million people have been out of work for a year)…Now similar protests have popped up in many other cities, some labor unions are joining the Occupy Wall Street movement, and President Obama has acknowledged the simmering discontent.

And it feels like there’s a general air of rebellion all around. Here in New York, the sunshine is rejecting the season and I spotted a one-man anti-Corcoran protest outside of a realtor’s office.
So today is perfect timing to watch artist Banksy’s “Antics Roadshow,” a GENIUS round up of public misbehavior…featuring the man who threw a shoe at President Bush, the artists who painted a penis on a Russian bridge, the Royal partycrasher, and more….

T.I.’s official freedom will have to wait. The choice of using his own personal bus as transportation from an Arkansas prison to a Halfway House in Atlanta has sent him back to prision and delayed his release until September 29th. According to TIP’s Lawyer, Steve Sadow, they received no formal notice from prison officials explaining what his client is accused of doing wrong.

“The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) appears to have an issue with the circumstances surrounding TI’s transportation from Arkansas to Atlanta. T.I. got on a private bus in the prison’s parking area in full view of BOP employees. Indeed, he was actually escorted to the bus by a prison guard.”

Rick Ross tried to laugh off questions about Kreayshawn’s self-instigated disses during his interview on the MTV Video Music Award pre-show (watch here)….but he made his displeasure very clear when he got into a shouting match with Kreayshawn’s manager Stretch. You can see Ross’ manager Gucci Pucci trying to calm things down, Kreayshawn just stands there in silence, and everyone else watches anxiously.
MTV’s “Rick Ross Fight” title on this video is a bit overkill but it could have gotten ugly. When Kreayshawn is moved off her podium, she doesn’t sense that this is probably for the best…and complains:

“Things are getting a little too serious, we just had some jokes…no, I’m in this, I’m in this….I’m hella irritated right now.“

Why would you be irritated just because the guy that you made penis jokes about isn’t overjoyed to see you? (now, hacked naked pics*…that’s hella irritating)

UPDATE: Kreayshawn talked to Billboard after the “fight” and said she’s not with all the gang violence (in reference to Ross’ use of “blood” and “cuz”). Watch video and….

Just to recap the history of this Kreayshawn vs Rick Ross tension…

It all started when Kreayshawn freestyled on the Cosmic Kev show and said “you faker than Rick Ross.”:

But when asked about the line by MTV Rapfix, Kreay insisted that she does not diss people, not in her career, nor to her friends….and that “I’m not like a person to go against anyone or anything. So hey, no offense to you Rick Ross. There’s no Rick Ross offensive things going on in there, even though it sounds like it.”:

But just a few days later, Kreayshawn and V-Nasty were ustreaming from their hotel room…and Kreay said that what she really wanted to say to MTV was pretty much the opposite of what she did. They then joked about Rick Ross’ weight and how it relates to both his penis and his signature grunt.

Two days after Jay-Z and Kanye West debut “Otis” on Hot97, the instrumental has leaked, so you know we’re in for an mentally-exhausting run of “Otis” freestyles.
But without actually using the Kanye-produced track, Game still jumps out the window and onto an “Otis”-inspired diss track, called “Uncle Otis” (which just debuted on XXL). Game takes the dubious opportunity to diss Jay-Z (along with a more reasonable Kreayshawn diss)…so I guess it’s safe to assume that the “Uncle” is a reference to Hov?

“Here is a dome shot to this n—a named Otis/ Niggas think they the coldest but n—a you just the oldest/N—az be chasin they youth but its gone/Yo, ‘Ye this n—a ain’t even wanna put you on and you turn around and put on [Big] Sean/ But forgot tell him Benihana don’t sell no f–king wontons…“

The song follows the footprints of Ice Cube’s “Jacking For Beats” and 50 Cent’s “How to Rob.” But at what age does a man no longer use what might be a 9-10 year age difference as the foundation for criticism? The Game is around what, 32? Come on.
(What if Game finds out that Cube is the same age as Hov!! The horror!)

Earlier tonight, Joell Ortiz called into Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex Show and spoke on some of the backlash he’s received since releasing his tribute “Big Pun’s Back.” To bring you up to speed, two weeks ago the wife of the late Big Pun, Liza Rios expressed her feelings about the song via Facebook where she felt the song was disrespectful.

A lot of people are asking how I feel bout Joell Ortiz BIG PUN is Back. Well it was a good attempt on Joell Ortiz part BUT a BIG PUN he will Never be! Found it a bit disrespectful that he would say he the next Christopher Lee Rios to say the least.. With no regard to Me and My family especially My Son PUN’S Only Son which should Be the ONLY one to Claim that BIG PUN is Back..lke let me tell u something if Puns tourch is being passed donwn then it will be to his Son it’s His Birth right Not Joel..And the fact that he didn’t even ask to begin with to see if I was kool “Passing the tourch” is Disrespectful!! It’s been nearly two years of sporadic Jay-Z disses from former Roc-a-Fella star Beanie Sigel….but as he works on his upcoming mixtape with DJ Green Lantern, the always talented but self-destructive Mack Mittens is apologizing for his anti-Hov campaign.

Beanie tells XXL Magazine:

“What Mike Epps say? ‘Gangstas fuck up too.’..Whatever I felt this dude Jay did wrong to me, it can’t outweigh the one thing he did do for me – he gave me an opportunity. Dude gave me an opportunity. A lot of people don’t get opportunities. He gave me that. That outweighs everything. I need that in black and white. I got caught in the moment and put my feelings out there. I should have never done that.”

Beans also confesses that he recorded an entire album of Hov, Memphis Bleek, Roc-a-Fella rants as his way of “airing s–t out” but he will not be releasing it to the public.

I’m glad he’s reversed his direction because the absurdity of some of his gripes weren’t worthy of the actual quality of his rhymes.

Beans Vs. Jay-Z (and Company): The Highlight Reel

It all starts in 2009 when Beanie took to the stage during Jadakiss’ set at Philly’s Powerhouse concert in 2009 and said “I Run This Town!” Jay-Z was the show’s headliner. Many naysayers tried to claim that Beanie couldn’t possibly be dissing Hov. *scoff*

Soon afterwards, Beanie debuted the full 7-minute long diss track “What You Talkin’ Bout (Average Cat)” on Kay Slay’s “Drama Hour.” Nation/Nahright tweeted the quote: “and you bounced that tennis ball back and forth in your office.” *dead*

Then comes a deluge of interviews: Beanie calls Charlesmagne, then on Philly radio, and details his beef with Hov. Saying that there was a slight over a bail hearing, and jail visitations. The Wall Street Journal fails with a theory that the beef is somehow connected to the World Series. *scratches head* Later Beanie makes the strategic move of making public appearances with 50 Cent, who has a history of snide Jay-Z comments.

Jay-Z makes an unexpected move of actually addressing Beanie’s beef…albeit during a random press conference in France! Hov says, “At some point, you have to look in the mirror and look at yourself…” Along with the obvious logic of Hov’s response, one of my favorite parts of this video was the interviewer, Goofy, who says in all seriousness: “Let’s stay in the complaining zone…” Goofy, where you at?!

Then as interest waned, there were a series of hood videos with increasingly delusional and rambling rants from Mack. (The New Jack City comparison… a pasta reference…and a Cypress Hill remake) But one particular rant was interesting. Beanie reveals his regret about dissing Jada on behalf of his then-boss Jay-Z, and also says that he regrets any tension with Dipset, especially after Juelz Santana attended his many court hearings. But then he threatens to slap Drake. #poor

But through it all….as much as the premise wasn’t less than respectable….the rhymes were sometimes pretty good, and entertaining. (see Beanie’s “Hater” revision)
So that pretty much catches us up to his “apology.”

In case you think you have problems…just be happy that you don’t share DNA with a guy like Frank Sorrentino.
According to TMZ, “The Jersey Shore” star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is finally legal action against his own dad, Frank, after the old man launched a series of “rant” videos and even a website to humiliate his son.

I’m not saying “The Situation”, that shiny, seemingly coked up, party boy with the old man face, is a role model or anything….but if he turned down his dad’s demands for money, or VIP wristbands at the Hunka Bunka, or whatever, I’m not sure I blame him. Especially after watching these short videos….Yeesh.

Frank: “I put my f–king balls on the line for you, a hundred f–king times, a hundred f–king times…I ask you one f–king favor, you tell me to go f–king be like a regular f–king joe blow and go on welfare? Nah, my son, I don’t do that…..I love my son, Mike. But when you get to the top and you forget where you come from, someone should remind you. I’m gonna remind you.”

Watch Frank “remind” his son Mike….that he can be even more of a walking stereotype than his son will ever be….

The irony is so thick you could cut it with a knife here….

Last week, Buju Banton won the Grammy for Best Reggae Album for Behind the Dawn. Today, a federal court in Tampa found the dancehall legend guilty of…conspiracy to possess and distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense, and using the telephone to facilitate a drug crime. (He was acquitted of attempted possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute.)

Buju now faces possible life in prison. But he has always insisted that he was set up by the Fed’s informant, Alexander Johnson, a man he met on a plane. Buju testified that he dodged Johnson’s calls for months, and was even home asleep when his co-defendants ended up paying $135k to undercover agents for 5+ kilos of cocaine. But Buju was taped tasting the coke in a warehouse, and he admitted that he pretended to be a celebrity with drug connections…which, in the end, was his downfall.

“Banton, a father of 15, said in earlier taped recordings with the informant that he was “stressed out,” and noted that he needed money to pay for his kids’ school tuition.
Prosecutor Preston hammered Banton during cross examination, saying that the 37-year-old singer went out of his way to portray himself as a drug financier.
“You gave (the informant) every reason to believe you were a player in the cocaine game,” Preston said.
Banton shot back: “We were both trying to impress each other. I was just making things up. I was just talking crap. I talk too much.”
Two other Jamaican musicians, Stephen Marley and Gramps Morgan, testified on Banton’s behalf Wednesday and said their friend definitely spoke with swagger — but is a hardworking musician and beloved musician in his native Jamaica who never had contact with cocaine.
“He’s a big talker,” said Marley, who is the son of reggae legend Bob Marley. (source)“

Another crazy part to this story….This informant, Alexander Johnson, made $50k from the US government for luring in Buju. And has made $3.3 million total off of his work as an informant in the past 14 years. That’s a lucrative career.
