Woo Hoo!

On Friday, at a construction site in Brooklyn, the big four, Cam’ron, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana and Freekey Zekey, all got together and filmed a video to show the world a unified front!

It didn’t happen at SummerJam last week (Juelz had his own set, Jimmy was blocked from the building and Cam surprised the crowd with Vado during DJ Khaled’s set) but that doesn’t meant that the wheels haven’t been turning in the same direction behind the scenes.

We’ll see the results from the videoshoot soon, (and hopefully some music?) but I’m just glad to see old friends moving forward : )

Every year this is one of my favorite events (see 2009’s highlights), both for the sights, the cause, and most of all the company! Editor-extraordinaire Dana Albarella and her husband/artist Todd James put together this amazing auction of fine art by their friends, including Shephard Fairey (Obey, the Obama Yes We Can poster, and more), Barry McGee, KAWS, Sue Kwon, Brent Rollins/EgoTrip and more! And all the proceeds from The Block Party go to the HSNY’s GreenHouse program, which helps Rikers Island inmates get job training in urban horticulture to reduce recidivism. Below, check out some of the work of the Block Party artists, these aren’t specifically pieces that will be on sale tonite, though…..

Reserve your tickets here ($100/$75), and I’ll see you tonite! 7pm in Tribeca, NYC.

All the details are…after the jump!

Hot97’s Summer Jam 2010 was an enjoyable show with no drama (well, at least, backstage), great weather, and big performances. I was especially interested to see how Drake would graduate from 2009 cameo to 2010 headliner, and Nicki Minaj rocked her first SJ like a true star (appearing in 4 different sets). I moved around from the new radio-broadcast room, to the side of the stage, and finally ended up at the corporate skybox with the suits but that’s where I watched what felt like the emotional high point of the night.
I didn’t even expect for Khaled’s set to get the crowd this hype but he was smart about the pacing (one verse and switch), and he played to the Tri-State crowd. It wasn’t about pushing his own acts or agenda. He had T-Pain and Busta come out. Then Rawse did “BMF” for the hood, Fat Joe repped the Bronx, Barrington Levy killed with his classic dancehall sing-a-long (was I the only one who thought Shyne was about to come out?)….and, of course, the building went bonkers when Cam’ron jumped out for his first Summer Jam appearance in years. Vado showed his potential with his “Speakin’ Tungs,” debut, and Khaled closed out with some good “All I do is Win” crowd participation.
(if you were at Summerjam, what did you think got the biggest crowd response of the night?)

Now, my coworker Peter Rosenberg was also running around backstage and also caught some funny flipcam footage of JCole, Talib Kweli, Drake, Rick Ross, Cam’ron, and, um, plenty of Rosenberg, himself.

Watch that and see all the related footage, after the jump

Alicia Keys performed at the Radio 1 “Big Weekend” out in Bangor, Wales….and her usual glow was accompanied by an unusually protruding but solid upper midsection….translation: looks alot like a baby bump, maybe 4 months in?

We discussed it last night on my Celebrity Drama Report:

Mikey: Ah man, Info just sent these flicks from the Converse Band of Ballers B-ball tournament down in ATL…

Miss Info: So, all week I’ve been campaigning behind the scenes to get Cam to come down to atlanta for the Band of Ballers game and show the world that him and Jimmy are making progress : )

And thanks to the folks at Converse, Cornerstone and the big homie at Anomaly, Stan Lumax, it happened!

Play by Play:

1.So Cam came in as the celeb coach for Jimmy, Shamgod, AButta and the Jones Family….The first game for them was a close call versus Shawty Lo’s team (apparently they had their own ringers too)

2. Cam isn’t suiting up (yet) because everyone is calling these games “football” not “basketball” due to lax officiating

3. Jimmy just said: “That white boy is nasty, we need to snatch him up for our team…he shoot too good, I know he must have played for real….” Lol, Jimmy is talking about Donnis’ manager Dan Solomito.(Who actually played Division 1 college ball from what ppl say here)

4. Cam is suited up! Jones team back up vs. So So Def.

Last week I had a conversation with two old friends. But what was remarkable about this wasn’t the fact that they called, or even what we talked about….what really meant something is that, for the first time in over three years, these two guys were calling me together…

Minya, it’s Jimmy….I’m sitting in the passenger seat of this car right now. I want you to talk to the driver real quick.

Ok, Jimmy.

[brief pause] “What up, Min. It’s Cam…

Yes!! Now we’re finally getting somewhere…Before I could start grilling them about the who/what/where/why/when….Jimmy made it very clear that he had to get something off his chest, with Cam right there…

Jim Jones said:It’s 2010, and this is something I gotta get off my chest…You’ve known us from back when we didn’t have what we have now, so you remember, that above all, me and Cam, we still brothers. And we’re building on getting back on track but first, I apologize for being a rude brother, for saying things publicly without first trying to handle them privately. I apologize for not leading by example because what I didn’t realize at the time, I was venting but it wasn’t all about me. There were other people whose dreams were also part of this movement. So by not leading by example, they were left stranded too. The way I handled our business issues was with emotion, and it got totally f–ked up. That’s what selfishness does….

As if Part 1 of the Kat Stacks groupie confessional wasn’t absurd enough. Now I absolutely can’t tear myself away from listening to this crazy person…her mouth moves like a human, but the noise that comes out….it’s indescribable.

I fully entered an altered state at the 3:54 mark:

“Wull, inywaydough, yaaal kint stob me. Yaal hock mee and yaal hock mah muggfuggin frens?! Bow wee steel heer, Beetch!”

whoa. did you feel that?

Previously: I Quit: Breaking down Kat Stacks’ groupie confessional (via Kid Fury)

I only have about 3 chips left before I have to declare mental bankruptcy….so I was resisting this Kat Stacks groupie confessions debacle like it was a case of adult first-time chicken pox. But once I saw that Kid Fury was doing a full video analysis, how could I stop from watching? (Spotted on Freshalina’s of course; )

“Yes, I hab screwed the hol’ Jung Money.” -Kat Stacks

Mack Mang, claim to be CEO, but he roomers with Jae Millz, ang GuddaGudda…” -Kat Stacks

I bing fugged Lil Wayne ang the n—a gave me twelve hunnid mufasuggin’ dawllors…hOH!” -Kat Stacks

(She had a lil bit of trouble communicating her feelings about BowWow with human noises, at the 6:36 mark)

Since is spelled s.i.n.c.e, not s.e.n.s.e. That spells sense…what cha don’t have.” -Kid Fury

More classy lady after the jump…including the original Kat Stacks video, which is so insanely awesome, it’s necessary to watch on its own. It didn’t hurt me, it helped me. And it will help you too.

These Late Night Talk Show Wars are getting crazy! I mean there was Conan’s Jerry Maguire mission statement. There were the snarky sneak disses from Conan and Letterman. Leno was playing the goofy aww-shucks role. Kimmel was watching and eating popcorn.

Now it seems like the social niceties are breaking down….with Jimmy Kimmel and Chevy Chase spoofing Leno and Conan last night…with rumors of Leno finalizing his takeover deal and NBC chief Jeff Zucker allegedly threatening to put Conan on ice for years …and with Leno allegedly throwing his first shots at Conan tonite…

But nothing prepared me for the incredible awkwardness of this…..Jay Leno actually had Jimmy Kimmel on the Jay Leno Show for the “10 (questions) at 10″ segment. And Kimmel went at Leno’s neck! (clip via Gawker, thnx to Mel on the assist!)

Bottom line…Hey rappers, step your beef game up.

(PS: if Leno, Conan, Kimmel, Letterman, (that Scottish guy and those two other guys who shouldnt be there) were this entertaining all the time….they wouldn’t be in this predicament in the first place.)

And Letterman also got his Leno jab in too….ugly ugly ugly!…after the jump
