migos-billboard-2

Migos are the stars of Billboard Magazine’s upcoming March issue, which hits newsstands on Mar. 18. The cover story done by Chris Martins, chronicles the trio’s rise in Atlanta’s rap scene and jump to pop culture stardom over the past two years, leading up to their No. 1 smash-hit “Bad and Boujee” and chart-topping album CULTURE. Shot by Olivia Bee, the group of Takeoff, Quavo and Offset pose in a country-themed shoot, saddling up on horses and holding chickens as they’re draped in the latest styles by Haider Ackermann, AMIRI, Gucci, Saint Laurent, and more.

One quote catching the attention of readers is a comment by Quavo, touching on his homophobic comments on ILOVEMAKONNEN in his Rolling Stone profile. “We ain’t saying it’s nothing wrong with the gays,” Quavo told Rolling Stone. “He first came out talking about trapping and selling Molly, doing all that.” He’d later frown according to the feature, saying “That’s wack, bro.” Migos as a collective would issue a statement apologizing, and speaking with Billboard he touched on the subject.

“When [Makonnen’s] music came out, I thought it was hard, so if he would’ve come out the same way…,” he said. “I got a record with Frank Ocean [“Slide,” a Calvin Harris track featuring Migos and Ocean]. That closes my case.”

In the photo spread which “took inspiration from her budding acting career and chameleon-like powers of transformation,” Rihanna goes with a futuristic glamorous look, highlighted by her thick green spiked hair.

We thought it would be interesting to put a superstar like Rih in such an everyday surrounding,” says Shannon Stokes, who styled Rihanna for the shoot along with Farren Fucci. “And Farren added the ‘future’ angle to give it a twist, so it became a challenge to envision what a girl who worked there might look like.” The pop superstar is seen wearing Dior, Faith Connexion, Acne Studios, Christian Louboutin, Off-White, Marc Jacobs and more.
