Post Malone and Swae Lee delivered what many felt would be an instant hit with their “Sunflower” collaboration when it first dropped late last year. As it continues to dominate the airwaves, the record has landed at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week. The lead single off the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack dethrones Halsey’s “Without Me,” which previously held the top spot for one week.

“Sunflower” becomes Post Malone’s third Hot 100 No. 1 following “Rockstar” with 21 Savage in 2017 and “Psycho” featuring Ty Dolla $ign in 2018. Swae Lee earns his first No. 1 record as a solo artist, to go with “Black Beatles” Hot 100 chart-topper in 2016 as a part of Rae Sremmurd. Last week, Posty and Swae released a video for the song, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won for best animated feature film at the 76th annual Golden Globes, both contributing to the song’s added success in recent days.

Did anyone really expect Kanye West to do anything but defend R. Kelly after last year’s dumpster fire of dumb comments? At a Sunday Service in L.A. over the weekend, Mr. West addressed the congregation with a characteristically “free thinking” musical sermon. Apparently, that freedom leads you to offering up a pathetic defence of a man who has a 20-plus-year history of rape, sexual assault, pedophilia and running a sex cult.

They just gon’ pull up full documentaries on ’em, and then they gon’ come with the Michel documentary. We can enjoy all they music all we want. I thought I wasn’t gonna go there today but [laughs]… because if we going to tear down one artist, let’s go ahead and take the da Vincis outta the Louvre while we’re at it, let’s take down all the art.

Perhaps Kanye should take notes from his good friend John Legend.

Rumors have recently been making the roads on social media that Rae Sremmurd have broken up. Made up of Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi, the actual real life brothers came off a busy year lead by the release of their triple album SR3MM. Despite both Swae Lee and producer Mike WiLL Made-It stating in recent days that the rumors are false, Slim Jixmmi went on a quick Twitter rant saying otherwise.

In a series of now deleted tweets, Slix Jxmmi tweeted that “I’m not Rae Sremmurd I’m Slim Jxmmi and Ima sink or swim by myself,” also saying “Y’all won it’s a wrap.” The news comes a few days after Mike WiLL confirmed a new Swae Lee solo LP was on the way.
