Mary J. Blige is healing and chanelling recent personal pain into her upcoming 13th studio album, Strength Of A Woman. MJB took to her social media accounts on Monday (Mar. 27) to announce her new full-length LP will hit stores on April 28. Lead by the singles “Thick of It” and “U + Me (Love Lesson),” Strength Of A Woman serves as a follow-up to 2014’s The London Sessions.
Kanye West, Jazmine Sullivan and Hit-Boy all serve as contributors to Mary’s new album arriving next month. The project comes after the 45-year-old’s divorce last year from her ex-husband Kendu Isaacs. “The breaking point was when I kept asking over and over and over again for respect and to be respected and it just seems like I was beating a dead horse and it seems like I was talking to a wall. I just wasn’t getting it back. If I can’t get respect in the relationship, then I have to move on to save myself. That was the point where I’m like, I’m done. I just can’t do it any more,” said the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul in an interview last year.
Along with the release date, Mary J. Blige unveiled the album artwork that can be seen below. UPDATE (3/29): MJB took to Twitter to reveal the album track list featuring appearances by Kanye West, Missy Elliott, Quavo, DJ Khaled and Kaytranada.
