After chopping it up with ScHoolboy Q and Ab-Soul not too long ago, Montreality caught up with another of TDE’s top dawgs, Isaiah Rashad, during a recent stop across the border. During the quickfire convo, the Chattanooga rapper chatted about his favorite cartoon character, comparisons to 21 Savage and his secret talent on the clarinet (he didn’t give us a live demonstration, unfortunately). Isaiah also shared a few words of wisdom for the youth: don’t take social media at face value, always believe in yourself and go explore the world. Amen!

Genius sat down with a true hip-hop legend, DJ Premier, for the latest installment in their live interview series Genius Level earlier this month. During the hour-long conversation, Premo shared the crazy stories behind some of his most iconic productions, including Nas’ “N.Y. State of Mind,” Biggie’s “Kick In the Door,” Gang Starr’s “Just to Get a Rep” and D’Angelo’s “Devil’s Pie,” which was originally intended for Canibus. That wasn’t the only discovery of the night, though; Premo also revealed that JAY Z approached him about solely producing The Black Album years before its release in 2003.

Throughout the rest of the interview, Premo discussed his history with the late Guru, approach to sampling and upcoming PRhyme 2 album with Royce Da 5’9″, which he says will be 15 songs and built entirely on samples of Antman Wonder’s catalog (the first PRhyme project chopped up Adrian Younge’s catalog).
