In their 12-minute conversation, Eastside Johnny speaks on being discovered by Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith while getting a haircut on a porch, important figures in his hometown of Watts, the best local burger spots, and early memories of himself and Kendrick Lamar during their beginning as artists. TDE’s newest signee Reason also makes an appearance. Reason speaks on his memories of Jay Rock before signing to TDE, his early basketball dreams, Fabolous being his first favorite rapper and more. Filled with laughs, plenty of classic vinyl, and off guard moments, watch below.

Lil’ Wayne’s newly released album Tha Carter V is getting plenty of great reviews and high praise since its release last week. C5 is set to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart next week, projecting to debut with nearly 450k units moved opening week. Continuing the momentum, Weezy F. Baby appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night (Oct. 2), where he performed the song “Dedicate” for the first-time.

Like many of today’s heavyweights, J. Cole is known for rarely doing interviews. The Dreamville CEO recently sat down with Billboard for an extensive one-on-one discussion, catching up with the publication during the Dallas stop of his KOD North American tour. During the conversation, Cole World opens up on wide range of topics including Donal Trump, why he decided not to vote, not seeing himself as a celebrity, and how he keeps up with the important things in popular culture without having a heavy presence on social media.

J. Cole would also touch on media in general, which seems to be dominated by Trump and Kardashian headlines. Cole having a three-hour FaceTime conversation with the late XXXTentation before he passed away,

Since the release of his latest album NASIR, Nas has kept quiet making no media rounds or television appearances. The Queens MC made his first late-night appearance since the summer project, paying a visit to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday (Sept. 25). Sitting down with Colbert, Nas discussed loving the art form of hip-hop 24 years strong in the game, classic artists he grew up on, recording NASIR with Kanye West in Wyoming, and his regret putting the song “Dr. Knockboot” on a commercial album (1999’s I Am…).

Backed by singer Jon Batiste and DJ Green Lantern, Nas would later return to the studio stage to perform the song “Adam and Eve.” Watch it all below.

In the midst of a rap war with Eminem, Machine Gun Kelly stopped by The Breakfast Club to discuss his battle with Slim Shady. In the 39-minute conversation, MGK breaks down how the issues with Eminem started after his now infamous tweet about Em’s daughter Hailie. The Cleveland rager also speaks on resolving things behind-the-scenes with Paul Rosenberg six years ago after that tweet was sent, and Eminem choosing to respond on “Not Alike” off his Kamikaze LP.

Machine Gun Kelly opens up on his “Rap Devil” song, his reaction to Em’s “Kill Shot” response, the G-Eazy battle, sleeping with G-Eazy’s ex-girlfriend Halsey, Diddy, and playing Tommy Lee in an upcoming biopic. The appearance was also to promote MGK’s Binge EP, set to drop at midnight.

In promoting of his latest project, the Detroit lyricist sat down with Sway Calloway for a one-on-one interview. On Tuesday night (Sept. 11), Eminem drops part one of his discussion with the Shade 45 and MTV host.

The 16th season of The Ellen Show kicked off this week with a bang, as Nicki Minaj was the first guest of the new season. With blazing orange hair, the Young Money Queen sat down with Ellen DeGeneres to discuss her QUEEN album debuting at No. 2, Travis Scott landing at No. 1 and wanting to punch him in the face, and her recent rants on Twitter and Queen Radio. Minaj also touched on her relationship life, referring to her past one with Meek Mill as “toxic,” and revealing there’s a new person in her life.

Before leaving the show, Nicki surprised three students by giving them $50,000 each to pay off their student loans. The Queens MC closed the appearance by hitting the studio stage to perform a medley of “Barbie Dreams,” “Ganja Burn” and her 6ix9ine collaboration “FEFE.”

Kanye West headed home to Chicago this week. Along with a handful of interviews that have already created headlines, the G.O.O.D. Music recording artist was in town to work with Chance the Rapper. In a quick interview while leaving a building in downtown Chicago, Kanye revealed he was back in the Windy City to work on Chance’s new album. Producer Zaytoven would later post a photo on Instagram on himself in studio with Yeezy and Chano.

West even shared some of the magic being made, uploading a video to Twitter on Thursday morning (Aug. 30). In the clip, Kanye and Chance celebrate Michael Jackson’s birthday by working on a record that samples the Jackson 5’s “Never Can Say Goodbye.” Back in July, both Kanye and Chance confirmed they were set to work on a new album in their hometown this summer.

Bun B is back to the music in full force, with his new album Return of the Trill set to drop on August 31. The 14-track LP features guest appearances by Lil’ Wayne, Run the Jewels, 2 Chainz, Gary Clark Jr, 8Ball and MJG, Yo Gotti, Slim Thug, Leon Bridges, Giggs and more. The legendary MC/activist recently dropped the single “Recognize” featuring Big K.R.I.T. and Tip. The trio now returns with an official music video directed by Mr. Boomtown.

The UGK member also paid a visit to Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club this week. Bun B sat down with the morning show to discuss stepping away music, Return of the Trill, being an independent artist, Gumball 3000, family life, and more. Watch the “Recognize” video and see Bun B’s interview below.
