As soon as I saw this video on Rolling Stone, I had to send it to Info…she is unhealthily obsessed with those teens hunting teens!

Second City improv group, the Chicago-based breeder of many SNL stars, made this clip which addresses two of pop culture’s biggest fixations at the moment. Lyrics like, “I don’t want Peeta to be dead / a pita is a pouch of bread / but that’s his name,” had me in stitches…and let’s not forget, “This district smells like rat piss / my name is Katniss.” Amazing. I think the best part is comedienne Holly Laurent’s pitch-perfect ability to capture both Lana’s indifferent air and all her most recognizable facial expressions…namely, the pout.

A$AP Rocky had one of his dreams come true for the new cover of Complex Magazine. Throughout the young Harlem rapper’s lyrics, there’s numerous references to fashion designers like Raf Simmons, Rick Owens, and one of his favorites Jeremy Scott. The hard working Complex crew plucked both Rocky and Scott to cover the Feb/March issue of their magazine. They discussed everything from the connection between hip-hop and fashion, childhood influences, their breakthrough moments, and more.

Complex: Why do you think hip-hop is so fascinated with fashion and vice versa?
A: As black people it was our thing to show that we’re not living in poverty and that we can afford extravagant things—that kind of stuck with us. So when our great-grandparents were putting on their favorite outfits, it was to put on a front for the hard times. And hip-hop is a bunch of people that never had nothing. Fashion is just an expression. It’s an art. It expresses your taste. Good taste is important in hip-hop. I wake up saying I’m going to look the best I can and do what the fuck I want to do. And that’s what it’s all about. I don’t know if I articulated it good because I’m pretty high right now—and I have a lisp and I’m going to Mars right now.

J: [Laughs.] The thing is hip-hop is one of the only communities that really started its own trends.

A: Wow.

J: That’s why I’ve always been inspired by hip-hop artists, because they transform things—even just the jean, turning it around, inside out, sagging it—all these different things. Yes, of course we get little things from other music movements, but hip-hop has been like, Pow! It’s really inspiring and it’s the only new music that has come along in eons. Rock and roll has been around—it’s changing forms. But hip-hop is major.

A$AP, you’ve talked about this before, but why do you still think there’s homophobia and ignorance in rap?
A: I’m not homosexual. That’s not where I’m at with my life. But I can still be greatly inspired by a homosexual. It has nothing to do with their sexuality. If I start discriminating against people, that will stop me as a person. That’s ignorant. What the fuck does that have to do with anything? It’s not like I want to date this motherfucker—I’m inspired by this dude. This isn’t about fashion, it’s what he personally did for me. I’m not saying I’m going to be an activist. I want to enlighten those brothers. I used to be like them, but I’m a grown-ass man. I don’t care what another man does with his time.

J: Why does it exist in the world? I don’t know. It’s just one of those things. I don’t know why people care about what other people do. When this becomes an issue in politics, that’s the thing that boggles my min

oh my god, I can’t breathe. Really what’s awesome about the “beef” between Common and Drake is that we have two artists who have similarly “diverse” attributes and career experiences, similar achilles ankles, and are both very talented. Common obviously has more hip hop history to draw from, and Drake obviously has youthful buzz. But you don’t get the sense that (even if the seeds of this beef are personal) anything truly ignorant or destructive will happen here.
What will happen though…is amazing parody. Like the Egotrip list of possible Common x Drake duets…

Jay-Z already heralded the birth of his “smarter faster me” Blue Ivy Carter with the song “Glory”….but as the celebratory news of Hov and Beyonce’s new baby daughter broke over the past two days, so too has the ridiculous speculation of events surrounding it. Not the least of which was the rumor (perpetuated by lines from a new song, “Glory”) that Jay-Z had arranged for the Empire State Building to be lit blue in honor of Blue Ivy Carter’s birth. Turns out the NYC landmark’s hue was actually due to the NY Giants’ playoff game on Sunday. Oh well, we can pretend. In fact, there’s gotta be all kinds of ways we could imagine Jay-Z pulling some strings to publicly celebrate this monumental event with the rest of the world. MissInfo: Do you normally rap out-loud like that? Were you at all worried that you might be disturbing the other passengers on the subway?
Terrane: No, I don’t normally rap out loud but that’s one of those songs that gets you hype! I really didn’t care what the other riders thought. That’s that song!!! And yes, I was definitely trying to entertain my fellow commuters.

MissInfo: You mentioned that you want to make the most of this spotlight….what do you hope will happen?
Terrane: I will definitely use this fame to promote my company Skye Fitness and my Skye brand. Also I’m going to kick my acting career off.

MissInfo: Well, you’ve already got that lack of inhibitions thing down. And a cosign from Kanye!

Or some cruel photoshop joke played by rival highschool cholas on facebook.

But NO! It’s so real. And thank you, Vice. And thank you Vice writer Kara-Lis Coverdale for christiane-amanpouring this so that we could know what really happened at LA’s Will Rise tattoo shop….when this chick walked in with a mission.

Kevin Campbell tells Vice:

“She was really psyched about it. She had the shitty font all picked out on her iPhone ready to go and was pretty adamant about putting it on her forehead…When I printed up the first image of the lettering, she wanted me to go bigger…“

“My whole deal with people wanting completely outrageous and potentially life-ruining tattoos is this: I’ll ask them three times if they really think it’s a good idea, I tell them what the potential consequences of getting a tattoo on their face might be, and after that, the bad decision is on them. I believe that people get the tattoos that they deserve…
I guess I feel bad that this dumbass got the name of the softest motherfucker in hip-hop tattooed on her forehead. But what makes that any less valid of a tattoo to her?… I lost a little sleep over it that first night, wondering if I wanted to be known as the asshole who tattooed “DRAKE” on some crackhead’s forehead.“

“The funny thing is, I didn’t know who Drake was. I figured it was her hood or some shit, not some goofnugget R&B dude.“

And also aesthetically horrified:

“When it’s something as simple as lettering, I could have tried to steer her into a prettier font maybe, or a different location (obviously), but she was already set on this letterman jacket-style font.“

But it sounds like even this crazy kooky Drake-fan is having some tattoo-remorse:

“Sadly, she didn’t leave a number on her consent form, just her name. But she is supposed to be coming back to finish the tattoo once it heals (she only had enough money for the outline) and I could probably talk to her then. She was on a pretty good one when she came in, but I think by the time I finished she was coming down, because her attitude changed pretty drastically once the tattoo was finished.“

“I don’t particularly want this one tattoo to represent my whole body of work… I’ve actually done some way crazier facial tattoos recently, but was really careful not to blast the shit all over the internet. Plus, the whole shaved eyebrow thing usually means you just got put on to your neighborhood or whatever, so I figured she was just some crazy shermed-out cholla who was “down for her calle” or whatever.

In my opinion this whole world’s going to shit, and shit rolls downhill, so I might as well just jump in, hold my breath, and pray to God that there’s a nice big soft puddle of diarrhea for me to land in once everything hits the fan.“

A proven jack of all trades, Pharrell can now add ‘music supervisor’ to his resume. Together with Hans Zimmer, who scored films like ‘The Lion King,’ ‘Inception,’ and the ‘Batman’ movies, he will be supervising the music for the upcoming 2012 Academy Awards. The two previously worked together on the soundtrack for ‘Despicable Me,’ and will now serve as musical consultants for the ceremony. According to BBC, “Oscarcast producers Brian Grazer and Don Mischer were looking for an opportunity to inject music into the program that touches on Zimmer’s classical flair, and the hip hop, R&B and pop sensibilities that Williams is known for.”
