Mikey: It finally happened. Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott hit the stage on Thursday night in New York City. After a ton of rumors about her coming out with Timbaland at VIBE’s SxSW show, which never happened, Missy killed it for Hennessy’s #WildRabbit party. Timbaland brought out his old time partner in crime to perform their new collabo. It was the same unknown song (“Triple Threat”), the VA producer debuted in Austin. I thought it sounded great live, and it even paid homage to Pimp C.

We also have extra special treat for you. This photo is pretty much all things great. I didn’t understand Common and Andre 3000 before, but after getting close up… I get it now. Thank you Miss Info!

It’s been 17 years since NWA’s frontman, napoleanic gangsta rap mastermind, Compton icon Eazy-E died from AIDS. 17 years. But clearly, the impact that Eazy and the NWA circle of characters (Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Suge Knight, etc) have is still evident in everything from hip hop to fashion to movies and more.

Today, Hot97’s DJ Mr. Cee follows up his incredible Notorious B.I.G. tribute mix from a few weeks ago, with another amazing throwback blend…this time, focusing on Eazy-E.

Nicki-Minaj-Complex-Covers

Nicki Minaj just touched down in Japan, and you can only imagine the mutual adoration for her out there. In the past few days, the ramp up for her Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded and revealed collaborations with Nas, Cam and Chris Brown…as well as a multi-million dollar Pepsi deal. But today, the Complex Magazine team released Nicki Minaj’s cover feature! Part 2 of their 10th Anniversary issue, and the counterpart to their Justin Bieber cover.

This Nicki Minaj story is extra near and dear to my heart because Complex’s EIC and a dear friend, Noah Callahan-Bever asked me to come out of my weird self-imposed magazine retirement to interview Nicki in Indianapolis during SuperBowl weekend….and talk about her unstoppable ambition, her exhausting run, her dreams of having a family, and….of course, the pitfalls and daggers she’s facing every day.

While setting up the interview, it was clear that Nicki has been forced to fortify her fences….as soon as we sat down, she became the same girl I first met in 2009…with Auntie Deb, before the Young Money signing, before the fashion world embraces, before it all. Equal parts lion and lamb. Happy to talk about meeting her idols (Madonna), gripe about her performances, and sip on margaritas (yes, salt all on the rimrimrimrim).
(Thank you to NCB, Rob Kenner, Nicki, Safaree, Kate Rosen, and Ebro)

Nicki Minaj: Doing the Super Bowl with Madonna doesn’t really change Nicki Minaj’s personal goals. My goal right now is still to put out Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, sell five million copies eventually, and tour every country in the world. That’s what I’ve been working toward. So while the world is talking about, “Oh my God, I can’t believe Nicki Minaj was at the Super Bowl!” I’m mixing and mastering my music. In my scheme of things it’s way bigger.

Miss Info: Because those surprises can’t replace the things you want to achieve by yourself?
Nicki Minaj: Because my goal the whole time has been for people to see me as a stand-alone artist. I came out with Young Money, the biggest hip-hop label in the world at that time. And then it was, “How do I branch away from Lil Wayne?” One of my biggest records was with Drake, “Moment 4 Life.” Even with the Super Bowl, it’s Madonna’s moment. I’m just sharing in that moment. It’s not Nicki Minaj’s moment. Nicki Minaj at the Grammys—that’s my moment. I’ve just been constantly on this quest to stand alone.

Note: There was an interesting conversation that Nicki and I had that somehow didn’t make it into the feature, but Nicki basically said that she has a 5 year plan…and that part of her future she insists will include getting married and having kids. In fact, as driven as she is…Nicki almost seemed to have this ideal white-picket dream life in mind. Hubby and babies, working every once in a while, like a Gwyneth Paltrow…or again, like a Madonna.

(Kanye West onstage with 2 Chainz, Big Sean…and a nation of millions at SxSW)

Kanye West wowed a crowd of hardcore hip hop fans tonight at SxSW when he appeared out of nowhere at the SOB’s 30th Anniversary party (the Belmont nightclub, Austin, TX). The show featured a lineup of the legendary New York City club’s favorites, including Elle Varner, Miguel, Machine Gun Kelly, 2 Chainz and that SOB’s mainstay, Slaughterhouse.

But when 2 Chainz started performing, his latest collaborator Kanye jumped on stage and hit a stunt pose, alongside Big Sean. Ye and Sean then performed a short set, including “Marvin Gaye and Chardonnay”…and luckily Mikey Fresh was right there to capture that moment and more!

Special shout out to our fam Lowkey/Youheardthatnew.com and Meka/2Dopeboyz.com for hosting this monumental night!

E1 leaked a new track from Cam’ron and Vado’s upcoming Gunz n Butta 2 compilation, which will be released in April. The track is also available for purchase on iTunes. Produced by Butter Beats.

New Music: Cam’Ron – “F*ck You”

Meanwhile his banger “So Bad” is featured on the upcoming Cam’ron solo album, which is not on eOne. But Info talked to Cam today and there are some major moves on the way, including some collaborations that will cause twitter hysteria.

UPDATE:
MissInfo: So, Cam’ron called to make sure you guys don’t get confused by the recent releases. But we also got to talking about his solo album…and his recent collaborations. The solo album will probably come out this fall around the same time as his movie “Percentages,” which he shot and produced with Queen Latifah and Shakim. I’ve already been raving about the song, “So Bad,” but wait til you hear the remix….featuring a particularly famous female emcee, Nicki Minaj.
In fact…Cam and Nicki recorded a couple tracks recently….so you’ll see where they all end up *wink wink* ; ) Props to the fact that Nicki calls Cam’ron “1 of my fave NY niggaz”.

Cam also told me that he recently teamed up with Wiz Khalifa, both for his own records and for Wiz’s upcoming projects…Seems that Wiz is a hardcore Dipset fan, so one day Cam heard that Wiz was in Harlem searching for him. LOL! Like Waldo! He had to make some calls to make sure Wiz didn’t end up in a Jimbo’s dumpster or something.

Right on time. Wiz Khalifa talks about his Cam’ron collaboration for his next album,

Pictured above is Wardell Fouse a.k.a Darnell Bolton, the alleged murderer of The Notorious BIG. Retired L.A.P.D. detective Greg Kading claims he kill BIG 15 years ago. In an interview with Rob Kenner/Complex, Kading revealed more details about the ongoing murder investigation when he was head of the special task force between 2006 and 2009. Hoping that justice will be served one day soon, Kading talked about the results of his investigation and why he thinks the case will never be solved.

“It comes down to how you define solved. Both law enforcement agencies—the Las Vegas Police Department and the L.A.P.D.—have drawn the conclusions that Tupac was killed by Orlando Anderson and Biggie Smalls was killed by Wardell ‘Poochie’ Fouse…

Both shooters are dead. Orlando Anderson was killed outside a Compton record shop in May 1998. Poochie died in July 2003 as a result of multiple gunshot wounds. He was shot in the back while riding his motorcycle in Compton. He was supposedly killed as a result of in-fighting between the Mob Pirus—Suge’s Blood associates—and another Blood gang known as the Fruit Town Pirus.

That’s all the justice that these cases will see. The co-conspirators are never going to be prosecuted. Unfortunately, the cases are so complicated and convoluted. These will never see criminal prosecution.”

Miss Info had the opportunity to catch up with her old friend about his role as film composer, alongside Hans Zimmer, for the upcoming 84th annual Academy Awards. He’s been pretty tight lipped about things thus far (see: GQ’s recent Pharrell interview) but Info got Skateboard P to open up about this incredible opportunity.

In this segment, he talks about creating a score that won’t overshadow the actual ceremony. At one point Info says she doesn’t really remember the music standing out at the Oscars but P says  that’s an indicator of the music being perfect. In his opinion, the music is supposed to accompany and assist the show. Check out the interview above.

The 84th Academy Awards will take place on February 26, 2012. New interview clips leading up to the Oscars will be posted at facebook.com/QreamOfficial and right here!

Rihanna-Birthday-Cake-2012
(A photo of Rihanna’s actual “birthday cake”. Yes, she’s riding a spliff….)

Is the world ready for a Rihanna and Chris Brown reunion? Well, ready or not, it is happening.
Rihanna has recorded a remix to her song “Birthday Cake” featuring Chris Brown, her Grammy-winning ex-boyfriend who was also convicted of assaulting her 3 years ago this month.
Recently, the song’s co-producers, Da Internz, hinted to MTV News, that “the feature on [the remix] is gonna shock the world.” They didn’t exaggerate. Your girl Info confirmed with two independent sources that Rihanna has Chris Brown featured on the song. He recorded both a singing verse, and a rap verse. (We’ll see if both of those verses make the final song.)

UPDATE 2/17: Well, I guess we shouldn’t be surprised…but I’m guessing some fans will be disappointed to hear that  Rihanna is allegedly being pressured to shelf the “Birthday Cake (Remix)” completely. It’s possible that she recorded it with Chris without alerting label and management. But here’s the thing…burying this song, doesn’t really solve anything if these two continue to reunite in other ways. And by the looks of Rihanna’s twitter rant, the heart wants what the heart wants. Plus, are all parties ready to begin a lengthy period of lying about the duet’s existence? Seems like both Rihanna and Chris are pushing back…

*Yes, Chris’ hint means Rihanna is on his remix.*

(Continuation of 2/16 post) As for rumors that Chris Brown attended Rihanna’s early birthday celebration after the Grammys this past weekend….Yes, that is also true. In fact, Chris arrived at the party with Rihanna. And stayed. It was not a drive-by appearance. And the energy between the two did not appear purely platonic. The party was a small intimate one. Family members, friends, and interestingly enough, management (Hov was not there, obviously). I imagine there were lots of mixed reactions in the room. (And no, everyone didn’t sign a confidentiality agreement)

So…now that we’ve got the facts out…what kind of reaction will follow? I think you best brace yourselves for multiple waves of heated emotion. Crashing into each other from many directions.

More on that, and the state of Rihanna x Chris Brown in 2012…

Yuna Peforms “Lullabies” in Brooklyn

These days, it’s tough to find vocalists that you won’t forget as soon as the next Rick Ross video drops. We’re over exposed to music and it doesn’t look like the overload will let up any time soon. So it’s a real treat when the MissInfo.tv crew comes across a singer that we’re impressed by. A few weeks ago we introduced you to Yuna (by way of Fader),  a souful Malaysian singer/songwriter that caught the attention of Pharrell… and Gabz! Like many of you, we fell in love with her soothing voice, which meshed so well over the vintage-sounding Pharrell beat of “Live Your Life.”

Last night, we got to witness Yuna’s incredible talent, first hand. From Rubber Tracks studio in Brooklyn, this newcomer blew us away with her live songs. Check out what we saw above.

(Special thanks to the Fader/Cornerstone family for putting this together)
