The majority of headlines in the news these days are pretty depressing, so it’s always refreshing to hear about something positive like this. This morning, the New York City Department of Parks held a ceremony officially renaming Palmetto Playground in Brooklyn Heights to Adam Yauch Park, in memory of the late Beastie Boy. His group mates Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz and Michael “Mike D” Diamond were in attendance at the playground, where Yauch hung out as a youth.

Tomorrow (May 4) marks one-year since Yauch, aka MCA, passed away at age 47 following his battle with cancer.
