Big Boi and Janelle Monet at the Atlanta Ballet

A man who can wean blue pits one day, make classic raps the next, and then infiltrate the fine-arts, is no joke. (thanks to Sohh Gyant for the link)

That was dope! I LOVE Janelle Monae! The first suite to Metropolis is only 5 tracks and each one is brilliant.

big boi’s ballet debuts at the fox…
The Atlanta Ballet’s performance of ‘big’ is an audacious display of a hybrid art form…and a unique social experiment

Certainly an innovative idea.
But, it seems that having Big Boi on stage performing front and center takes away from the ballet experience. People may not focus visually on the dancing. He upstages them and relegates them to being back up dancers. Was that the intent?
What is the point of having ballet dancers performing if you can’t see everything they’re doing?
Can’t wait for that Big Boi album, though.

I went yesterday and I loved it. To me Big Boi didn’t take away from it. I was focusing on both and was very pleased with it. It was brillant.

Its not that Big Boi takes away from the ballet experience, I think the dancers werent that good.
I love Janeel Monae, Sincerely Jane is my favorite song from her. She always does a great job.

I went to the show yesterday and loved it as well. Even though it was different to have a rapper performing with a ballet performance taking place (or vise versa.) It was as someone quoted “experimental.” At some points it was a toss up as to who to focus on but the great thing is that there were parts where the dancers took center stage and performed very moving and technically impressive pieces.
