BET Awards performances: Drake n Weezy, etc
Posted by Miss Info under about miss info , concerts , good for me , life beyond rap , new music , old music , things I like , ugh , videos[65] Comments
I thought this Ojay’s tribute starring Tyrese, Trey Songz and Johnny Gill was the best segment of the awards….(not including the pure emotional power of Janet Jackson’s short message from her family about the loss of Michael Jackson)
The Drake, Lil Wayne, Young Money Ent performance after the jump….complete with pre-teen relatives onstage during the performance of “Every Girl in the World”….ugh.

I’m sorry but this performance was a mess.

Aside from being dumb boring, the performance was highly inappropriate & disturbing with children involved…
Drake needs some stage presence coaching. Stop rapping to the floor!

lol. i was saying the same thing info. infact i think i was yelling and throwing things at my tv and throwing up the water i had just drank. WHAT A MESS (not the lovely tv show). i agree about ojay’s tribute. was dancing so much. there were definately some good moments during the awards…lol beyonce isn’t on my highlights list. and the actors were doing their thing tonight. i love tyrese’s voice. i think they did a great great great job although johnny gill was kinda starting to scare me a bit with his vein popping bit. singing strait from the throat. i thought he was gonna kill his mic.

Wow…A field trip to the B.E.T awards. Wish I went to Y.M. Elementary too. What were they thinking… really?! Does saying the I wish I could “love” every girl make it any better? Somebody needs they ass whipped!! Just when I said “At least Wayne’s ass isn’t hanging out!” off comes the shirt and out comes the ass. SMH Excuse my language but since Mr. Eddie can say “Shit” on a live broadcast I thought I could get away with “ass” on a blog.

i know. i know. same here. there is sooo much hate going on twitter, but i guess if people expressing their real feelings than you can’t hate right. i agree with 99% of everything you said 100%. i mean i love beyonce but that wasn nothing special. i already seen that on youtube baby, and and and you can’t sing an aria…so please. i liked the maxwell song cause it’s my jam, but people were saying he should have done mj.
there were some good things obviously. i liked the ojays, and neyo, and jaimie at the end. i actually liked ciara’s bit (even though so many people think she butchered him. i just kind blanked her out and sang the song and cried and looked at her jacket which i loved)…so yeah. that was not a good look BET. that’s the truth. lol. ugh. i have to watch the mtv awards to get a good performance. please. i’ll be watching either way like i do all the time. mayb they should just leave it alone or something with these tributes. they making me hate them all. leave mj alone. he’s too good for ya’ll.

Not a fan of Drake or Lil Wayne, why do all these rappers rap about the same damn thing. I think that they make music for lil kids these days who are stuck to da computer downloading music, so they take those stats and figure that’s what the people want. Wrong…what happened to rappers telling a story, instead all we hear about is bling and sex. Thats not real life, I don’t know anyone who can relate to that mess. Rap sucks these days.

I thought the awards where rushed and sad. Where was chris brown they could have done better for MJ, forget about the case for a minute. Chris Brown to me would have given a better performance. Beyonce was more of like a concert and not from the heart I thought, she could have made a whole lot simpler. Maxweell I loved, neyo and the tribute to the O’jays. Thank you BET for making this the most ghetto show I ever saw, how can you have LIl Wayne up there with little ass girls talking about how he wish he could have sex with every girl. I know little girls listen to his music and others but dont condone this on live t.v. thanks agian BEt for the performance, then letting Janet give her thank you after the lil wayne performance such class

Did they not listen to the words….how you sing a song where the home audience can’t hear 80% of the song….that’s just wrong!

Like u said prob in the front row taking pic n sayin “thats my baby”. Reginae father was sittin on the stage so i guess that was alllll ok. SMH

first of all i don’t get the buzz around this drake guy. he just sounds like an ordinary rapper. as a matter of fact he sound like he is imitating Lil Wayne. secondly, those lil girls should now have been on the stage with as song you had to bleep half the words out. thirdly, i was a little disappointed with the show. bet meant well, but some of the performances were wack!! sonjaboy, ciara just to name a couple. i wanted to see more of MJ dancing and songs. the only ones i enjoyed were beyonce and the o”jays and maxwell. at the end of Keri’s performance when she was trying to dance she looked like she was imitating Elvis. i could not stop laughing.

Dude aint shit, his songs arent shit, that was the worst performance ever, Wayne is maybe the worst rapper in the world, I’m sorry I dont think Wayne is good, just it was awful, with little girls on stage, I get Drake was hurt, but it was awful. Fucking Wayne, I dont think your beautiful I think your beyond it, that shit is fucking wack.
Then BET with that hood rat ass Tiny and bullshit shit. Is it me or in order to get a show on BET you have to have a crack head moms, and sister thats a whore and shit, Keysha Cole. Then you get DMX with his hood ass, going to jail, now Tiny and whoever, guess what, the one chicks moms is a crack head, I saw shit in the car about mom you dont need to be down here smoking crack. the one chick Tiny, is that TI’s girl? She looks like Wanda, looks like someone kicked her in the face, oh god she is busted, just a train wreck. BET is so awful, they will put anything on tv.

Drakes little solo set was OK the sitting down part was alittle awkward but if he was injured then i guess he gets props for just going through with it in the first place but the rest of it was a confusing hot mess, esp. the pre pubescent little girls on stage during the every girls in the world set. Please someone explain what that was about? the rest of the performance was unnecessary if not the whole thing in reality.

You people keep assuming Lil’ Wayne is a normal thinker. This is the same guy who as a teen shot himself in the chest while trying to look “cool” in a mirror, the same guy who kisses another man because its something the Mob does, the same guy who admittedly smokes weed daily & it’s widely known that he was/is addicted to syrup. Why do the masses still expect moral behavior from him?

I would like to address this so-called controversy about the under-age girls. It never ceases to amaze me how stupid some critics can be. The song Every Girl is tongue and cheek. Have people lost their sense of irony to knee jerk reactionism. Drake clearly understands that the song is not meant to be taken literally, so why is it that so many bloggers feel that the lyrics describe lil waynes genuine desire to **** every girl in the world–as if that were actually possible. The same people who claim that the performance ruined the tribute to Michael Jackson were probably writing him off as a pedophile a few years ago. Not to mention those that express their interest in seeing Chris Brown perform instead of the chosen performers. Did they ever stop to think about the actual crime he committed. I dont think so. Drake in no way is condoning something as imbecillic as underage sex, as evidenced by the fact that he did his set sitting on a stool. Injury aside, he was not jumping around up their chanting along with Wayne. And believe it or not, the world actually has bigger problems right now than the song Every Girl. Read a newspaper. And if critics who reperesent the populace dont like the song than why is it in the top five on Billboard. Its tongue and cheek people. Get a sense of humour or start questioning yourself about your own hangups. This culture is what you make it

Tongue in cheek to adults does not work on kids. Some little pre-teen somewhere would think that what was said and who was on stage makes her fair game. Even if adults get it it’s still irresponsible on BET’s part, how they let kids dance to that on a national program. A cat like Kels prolly thought that performance was spot on.

considering they bleeped most of the song, having those girls dance on stage, especially because their parents were there obviously, was a good idea no. i don’t care. it was still a bad look and and and and and you know the worst part, because i was laughing the whole time during that performance and my bro was literally dying talking to 20 of his friends during the performance ragging about it, was that the energy sucked huge. lol. i’m happy neyo jaimie and janet ended the show. no way could that song been a finale…they should have maybe scheduled it for after soulja boy tellem’s song…or maybe they did it because they knew people would stop watching around that time. cause no one knew janet was going to come. gosh.

I too enjoyed the Ojays tribute, as well as Maxwell. Tyrese held it down in that tribute, J-Gill was doing too much, and Trey Sonz was pretty good. I wish they would’ve given Maxwell the opportunity to do a more up-tempo song from his album though. Over-all I think it’s time for BET to shoot for an awards show with class the next time because it was lacking last night x10. Lil Wayne with his fckin’ daughter on stage for a song like that was a total violation!! WTF is wrong with these people??? And what’s worse is that BET allowed this sht!! Also, why in the hell would you allow an artist to perform a song that requires that 80% of the song has to be bleeped-out??? People, we need to bombard BET with emails demanding that they clean-up that network. It’s too the point where it seems that anything is acceptable. Lil Wayne is just over the top ignorant and people enable his behavior by steadily supporting him. I’ll bet Drake didn’t want any parts of that sht, but he had no choice considering Wayne’s his boss now!

Well, as far as the perfomance goes….those same kids probably sing the song everytime they hear it on the radio along with your kids…or ur friends kids…or ur neices and nephews so pipe down and let those kids enjoy being on stage at the BET awards…they were kids dancing..not sexually dancing just like hey were on TV on STAGE at the hottest event in the country….dont read to much into it. Peace
Same thing with Chris Brown….ok did a crime…plead guilty…received sentencing….dont form an opinion soley on the wrong that he’s done completely over looking charity work done before the crime he committed…give him room for redemption…dont pull an Oprah. At the same time I realize why BET didnt ask him to perform….it would almost be a representation of Michael and maybe the media wouldve made to much out of it…and the backlash was feared….next time call Omarion or Usher lol.

The key word in your mentally insane point is “kids.” Lil Wayne is an adult & a father. Why would any father want to discuss fucking anybody in front of any child much less his own?? Sure kids are going to listen to the music, but what ever happened to a show of respect and decency in front of adults and especially your parents and for parents your child! It’s natural for kids to try to be grown before their time, but it’s a parents responsibility to not condone certain behavior. For what purpose did it serve to have these kids on stage while he performed such a sexually suggestive/charged song?? It’s the height of ignorance and irresponsibility. Would any responsible parent sit around with other adults and discuss fucking this chick or that dude using every raunchy & profane word in the book while doing so??? NO!!! Or, at least not the sane ones or the ones who have respect for themselves and that child.
Lil Wayne and the mother’s were absolutely out of line for having these kids on stage while performing this song and anyone who doesn’t understand why needs to have their head’s checked. Did he think that people were going to say, “wow, what a great father Lil Wayne is. He has little girls onstage with him while performing I Wish I Could Fuck Every Girl!” GTFOH!! It’s not the kids fault in this instance, but the ignorance of the parents!! I mean it seems like some adults have no boundaries between themselves and children. A person like you would probably have no problem with R. Kelly singing “Strip For You” to a damn teenager onstage. I can only shake head at his ignorance and yours. Some things are simply unacceptable and this should be one of to anyone who thinks of themselves as reasonably intelligent and somewhat responsible!! My daughter is quite a bit older than these girls and I wouldn’t dare sing this song in her presence, nor would she dare sing it in front of me. I’m sure she sings the song with her friends, brothers, etc. but she wouldn’t dare repeat that shit in front of me. She’d be too ashamed to do that. It’s a lil thing called respect. You sound like the type who will stand in line at the grocery store on your cell phone talking loud enough for the whole store to hear you about who you fucked last night and who you gonna fuck that night all while an 80 year old woman is standing right in front of you!!!
Lil Wayne has none for himself so why should anyone with half a brain expect him to have any for his own kid!! Some things are simply unacceptable, but for people like you, anything goes I guess. I stay amazed at how people will try to defend the most ridiculous behavior and not even care how silly they sound while doing it or is it that you are another one of these Lil Wayne fanatics that believes that he can do no wrong!!! To you my friend I say, GROW THE FUCK UP!!!!

Do my history? Did you mean research? Who said anything about MTV?
Newsflash- MTV AND BET – both owned by VIACOM. Ok, now that’s out of the way.
I prolly got sneakers older than you shorty. I forgot you youngn’s ride for BET even though they are part of the reason most of your generation won’t amount to shit.
BET most definitely attempted to capitalize off the death of the icon because it coincided with the awards show. Half of the people who even bothered to watch only watched because they expected BET to do a great MJ tribute. What would it have hurt for them to put together a well thought out, intelligent, classy, tribute? There will be tributes for MJ well into the rest of the year. Being the first to do it is not as special as being the best to do it.
We are talking about the best to ever do it. Does he not deserve better than some half assed, last minute, typical BET bull.
MJ himself had half of his original comeback concert performances rescheduled so the shows would be on point. That’s mad love for his fans, he deserves the same from anybody that is throwing his name around they awards show. I have/had eighth row seats for the one of his upcoming concerts in London, $1200 tickets with backstage passes. I’m a real MJ fan over here son.
BET should take note, when it comes to MJ they should come hard or stay home. Sometimes it’s best for the show to not go on than for it to be as wack as the “tribute” BET screwed to hell.
My bad if a BET dis gets you so upset. Take off the caps and breathe deeply for about 2 minutes. You’ll be aight.

God i wish T.I. was out of jail he would have closed the show perfect just look at the year he had you couldnt walk the streets without hearing the hardest thug or gangsta wanna be sanging “you can have whatever you like” or “just live your life” Paper trail was the album of the year T.I.P please hurry up and do your time you haven’t been in the jail for half your time and rappers running all over the stage with 11-12 year old girls on the stage saying i wish i could love(F*ck)ever girl in the world, although on the other hand i will say that drake performance was hot! but when the rest of the crew came out it went down hill and the shit became embarissing to watch Drake should have just song the whole song “best i ever had” and closed the show.

Everybody come on now! Lil Wayne and Drake is doing them so let them be. They doing them and making money and the OMG girlz(which i think none of you all mentioned by name) is just trying to be famous. You all should be happy that african american men are trying to help thier youth. All you guys have to say is how innapropriate it was, i’m sure that lil wayne or drake would want 10-13 year old girls seeing as though they could literally get any female they wanted, probably including many of you. And to the micheal jackson tributes, i thought it was wonderful. Also seeing as though they only had about 3 days to put it altogether, it was great. Of course no one can live up to mj so you guys are being way too critical. Overall, i loved this awards show and all of the performances. Thier peformances were incredible, and their efforts were applaudable.
