Alex Wiley just dropped his new Village Party mixtape, which I’m not afraid to put up there with Chance The Rapper’s AcidRap and Vic Mensa’s INNANETAPE as one of the most impressive projects to come out of Chicago’s bubbling scene over the last few years. One track that didn’t quite make the cut, however, was “Own Man,” a three-and-a-half-minute rush of hunger, ambition and euphoria, co-starring the steely-voiced Mick Jenkins.

Today Alex gives us the green light to premiere the corresponding video, which chronicles the young Chi-Town rappers’ journeys thus far onto a stack of box televisions. Shot in Austin earlier this year and directed by Andrew Zeiter and Bryan Lamb, the clip features cameos from Chance The Rapper, Vic Mensa, Thelonious Martin and many more rising talents at the heart of Chicago’s Closed Sessions movement.

Alex Wiley will be performing at New York City’s Webster Hall alongside Nitty Scott, MC tomorrow night (June 11). Tickets are available here.
