Al Lindstrom’s 2012 Hip-Hop Awards (MVP, ROTY, 6th Man, Most Improved)
Posted by Mr.North under good for hip hop , hmmm....?[4] Comments
With much success and great feedback in 2011, Al Lindstrom returns with the year-end awards in rap music. For the 2012 edition, the panel includes Joe La Puma (Complex Magazine), Jayson Rodriguez (XXL), Brian “B.Dot” Miller (Rap Radar) and well-know A&R Jeff Sledge. The group of writers and tastemakers debate between Future, 2 Chainz and A$AP Rocky for “6th Man of the Year,” why no one tops Chief Keef for “Rookie of the Year,” and who wins “Most Improved” between Big Sean, Pusha T, and Nas.
The big and final award is a showdown between Maybach Music Group’s bawse in Rick Ross versus TDE’s Kendrick Lamar for 2012′s “Most Valuable Player.”
Sit back and watch who wins below…..

Damn good nominations for the categories. Ross was more valuable than Kendrick to me. Future had more Top 10′s than Chainz (although they’re neck and neck) and Sean is probably the most improved for me.

Everything outside of the merit of the artist’s project itself is silly criteria for MVP to me. Nobody asks, “how many shoes did Kobe sell this year? Oh, only 200,000? Nah – he can’t be MVP then, man.”
MVP’s in sports are judged by the quality of their game play – not superfluous factors (i.e. fan appeal, endorsements, how many times they show up in Sports Center commercials) that have nothing to do with the game.
That being said – Kendrick all day. No question.
