I know I know, I need to put up some SummerJam 2007 thrills (swizz beats vs kanye, lil wayne) and chills (fab n jeezy, the rain)….thats coming soon, I’m still recovering, lol….
but for today….
My boy Nigel at Realtalkny sent me this link for a video from a recent Akon concert….allegedly in the first clip (fyi, if you try shooting video with a camera or camera phone, you cant tilt it sideways….ive had to learn that lesson the hard way too) Akon is talking to the crowd when a guy in the audience tosses a frisbee onstage. But the frisbee also hits Akon or grazes him. So Akon asks the crowd to point out the “perp” and then instructs his security guards to grab him.
So in the second clip, Akon brings the offender on stage and “teaches him a lesson.” Hmm……seems like overkill…..not to mention an extreme insurance risk, A. Perhaps he’s been watching too much cagefighting on the VS network, ’cause if it had been me getting tossed off hulkamania’s shoulders, I woulda laid on that ground like a ragdoll until my lawyer and my chiropractor showed up. Dont act like I’m the only one : )

it had to be planned cause he followed it up saying how he thought he had loyal fans and how he felt lonely and then the song comes on. it’s funny how ole boy weighs like 110 and got tossed like a rag dolls. ole boy akon really plays that pop star-goodie-two-show role real good cause he does some dumb shit when he thinks cameras are not filmin. on a different subject but same person, homeboy can’t sing to save his life. he is the new generation keith sweat.

i dont know about that matt. in this case there was a fan acting stupid and disrespecting the stage and u just dont do that. it happens during rock concerts all the time. what you are talking about wouldnt have been racially charged. it woulda just been a black fan acting stupid throwin shit on stage and the white band taking action so i think you are wrong about that one. now if it were the black fan acting stupid and as he gets thrown off stage the white band says something like, “everybody beat that n____ up, he is just a n_____ go hang him”, then we have a big ass racial problem and calls for Al’s attention. they get in an uproar whenever something happens that is considered to be racist. i don’t know what race you are but you obviously don’t understand what they do and why they do it.

question for you guys….in an earlier comment Unni tries to make this a white vs black thing….I wasnt sure if the repeated “white boy” usage was offensive to any of the white readers and if it should be edited out. Honestly, the whole thing is absurd to me, cuz I dont think it had anything to do with race. But in general I’d like your take on editing guidelines. I dont think “white boy” is that offensive on its face, but in that context it seems offensive. Then again, so many comments contain the “n” word and I dont have it edited out because again, in the context used, its not meant as a racial slur. If and when it is used that way=automatic edit.
Ok, I’m rambling but if you have an opinion (constructive) then please share.

For the record it was not and is not racial thing. It is merely about respect and it angers me that when a person of color is wronged all that some ppl wanna concentrate on their reaction (and color). That’s just dumb.
However, I was not the one that initiallly brought the race issue to light. But seeing as someone did and others had comments/opinions on it…so did I.
