It’s about that time of year again. SXSW’s annual music festival is officially underway, and once again Missinfo.TV made the trek down to Austin to bring you first-hand coverage of madness. 2012 brought us incredible moments from the likes of 2 Chainz x Kanye, 50 Cent x Eminem, Rick Ross, and Weezy but who will shut it down this year? And better yet, which up-and-comers will have a breakout performance? We’ve already heard whispers about a Suit & Tie performance, some G.O.O.D. Music appearances, and Prince rocking with a certain Tribe. Also, we can’t forget about the Fader Fort surprises on deck. They never disappoint. Aside from the big names, though, we have our eyes on new talent like Joey Bada$$, IAmSu!, Dyme-A-Duzin, and it may interesting to see how Chief Keef and the GBE crew fairs at their first SXSW performance.

On night 1 (Mar. 12), I hit The Warner Sound to catch Rockie Fresh, Action Bronson, and Macklemore. They had The Belmont packed to capacity as MMG’s youngest kicked things for the hip-hop portion of the evening.  Rockie had a nice front row section of diehard fans that helped him get through his set.

But it wasn’t until Action Bronson hit the stage for the real chaos to begin. The big man from Queens wasn’t quite feeling all the love from the stage so he jumped down and rocked a few joints while taking flicks with fans, and even stopping in the VIP for a sitdown. Finally, Macklemore finished things off with a pretty thunderous set. After it was all said and done, I caught up with Mr. Bronson backstage for a brief but hilarious chat about his key ingredients to surviving SXSW. While most put sunblock, water, maps, etc at the top of their list, Action’s necessities revolve around fancy hotel balconies, BBQ, and of course THC.

Watch Action run down his 2013 SXSW Survival Guide after the jump…

Action’s Key Items to Surviving SXSW
1. “You need a room at The W with a balcony”
2. “A separate sh*tting and showering [rooms]. To sh*t is in a separate room and to shower is in a separate room. You can’t have it in the same vicinity.”
3. “A lot of wax [and G-Pen]”
4. “Barbecue brisket and a lot of bread to slop up the sauce”

Over at the Fader Fort, Just Blaze and Baauer kicked off the festivities with a special pre-party performance. After “Harlem Shake,” JB brought out a Freeway to run through a few Rocafella classics.
