A Bronx Tale has been cited in countless rap songs from everyone from Jay Z to Scarface. The classic Mob story about a young kid who just wanted to do right by the guys in his neighborhood is a classic. Unfortnutaly, one of the film’s main characters actor Lillo Brancato found himself in some serious trouble in 2003. The young man was involved in a robbery where an off duty police officer was killed and was subsequently sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The now 37-year old sent out a Tweet on Monday to confirm his release: “my last full day in prison.” He continued: “Thank you for your love and support. I love you all!” Brancato also starred in The Sopranos for a season and string of other films.

Initially, he was to be freed in July after serving eight years of a 10-year sentence. But he is getting out early after agreeing to an unusual deal with the parole board in which he will serve five years’ parole with a 10 p.m. curfew. Had he waited until July, he would not have faced parole.
