50 Cent Tells XXL: “I Have To Make Music That Has What Biggie Offered”
Posted by Mikey Fresh under Quotes[16] Comments
Whoa! XXL gave 50 Cent 5 different covers for their upcoming year-end issue. The first one also features his pal Floyd Mayweather but the other 4 feature Fif solo. Each cover is said to represent different sides of the rapper-turned-mogul. While speaking on the direction of his upcoming fifth LP, 50 gave some insight on his mindstate.
“I don’t see what I fell in love with,” he says. “So now I gotta make music that reflects what N.W.A made. I have to make music that has the moments that Nas had. I have to make music that has what Biggie offered.”
He also discusses his currently untitled 5th solo album: “For me, I’m still up against what I’ve done,” he says. “So in order to top it, I know it’s a difficult task. You know, I see the bloggers. My audience hasn’t grown with me. They keep saying, “Aw, man, I want the old 50!” ’Cause those people, it would take them on a safari. I was bringing them close enough to the animals, without being able to get hurt. I was taking them into my neighborhood, where you can very well get your ass killed.”
Check out all 5 covers after the jump…
In addition Fif talks Hollywood, feeding kids in Africa through Street King and much more. And 50 and Floyd break down their crew: The Money Team. “The Money Team is money, is power and is respect,” Floyd says. “It’s a lot of us. The team is, The Money Team is worldwide, and it’s growing. It’s growing each day.”

How about this…fif start with your beat selection..banks been killing it with his choices lately but for some reason you can’t get it right…pick a beat that is so infectious it don’t matter what you spit (not saying ur lyrics don’t matter)…

I’mma say this…. I don’t like most of the music 50 makes now & yes he’s always on some publicity b.s. but for him to even consider saying that he wants to make music like the stuff that mattered to us when Hip Hop was REAL… I got nuttin’ but love for that! These lil’ bitches running the airwaves now have no idea what REAL Hip Hop is or was. They pop their shit, make their $, & babble their way thru interviews trying to sound profound & wax nostalgic. At least this dude still attempts to care!

With no hate whatsoever, 50 is done. The Kanye/50 album showdown was the end of his era. He sounds like a dinosaur.

50 hasn’t be relevant musically in a while. I hope he can bounce back but I doubt most people even remember the name of the last 50 cent song that was a hit. He should embrace where he’s at right now and start molding some young dudes. I think Fif would have a lot to offer a few hungry NY based up and comers. He could probably revitalize his brand and the big apple all at once.

The level of hate this inspires is going to be monumental. It’s sad how short-lived people’s memories are in hip-hop. He’s done quite a bit for this genre, but that’s seldom recognized. If nothing else he’s shown folks how to take their street-level hu$tle to the next level and evolutionized the mixtape format which many of these lames that are slinging their “street albums” use to throw shots. Love him or hate him, you can’t deny his impact.

Awwww look at the friendship that blossomed from Rozay. They should send that man a gift basket! Them getting dissed on Mafia Music made them the bestest of pals!

Agree. Never even thought of that being the nail in his coffin but you are definitely right.

The reason yeezy ain’t hurting like 50 is cause the hard core era is not poppin right now…think about it…which hardcore mc has managed to go above gold in the past few years? And please don’t say Ross cause that’s a whole other topic
