I’m not sure what rock you been up under But those SK tracks have all been HOT!! Now if the streets doesnt “cosin” those and accept those tracks then fuck’em…Maybe its the streets thats changed not 50..
I personally think there is something that just wont allow them to break through to the mainstream in a major way again.. Proof being the fact that Banks had damn near a classic album with HFM2 with BBB, Any Girl, I dont deserve you,So Forgetful and Start It Up and that shit didnt sell like it was suppose to.. If you got tracks like that on an album and it dont move 400k or 370 the first week something larger than content is at play..

HFM2 7.5/10, not a classic, but dope album though…OAN i’m a huge 50 fan, but his music career is on life support….he needs a fresh new angle….

I said damn near classic not classic..
As for 50 career its pretty much over… But he isnt finding peace with that fact so he keeps on pushing as if he has something to prove. He should just drop albums for sport at this point because nothing he does will make any real noise in the mainstream…
He needs to tour year round..and pretend to be a legend until people accept that title with his name.. the end..

50 refuses to conform to what is considered fly.
one thing 50 is missing is that “LOOK”
remember in 03 05ish 50 had that look he had that swagger that every nigga wanted. you need that “look” to be big in this time of the industry.
and then comes the music

I think thats called selling out.. and I doubt 50 will selllout for anyone…
He wont wear skinny jeans, he wont tat up his face, he wont gget high and act like a junky he just has too much pride for that.. Which seems to be missing these days.. He’s in shape so I’m sure he can fit skinny jeans but the man in him wont let him do it..

Def in agreement with g lou…I’m not with the skinnys either but Fif look is played out! As recently as last wk he was seen rockin a fitted with the white durag under my dude! So ‘04! You see a nigga like Nas on that new XXL & you see a nigga who came out the 90s & still (swagger wise) looks current,my son know how to put it together! & to homie who said back when Fif came out he had the look every dude wanted! Not really true, mostly bammas I guess because that nigga used to rock that dreadful G Unit clothing with those terrible sneakers…& niggas was NOT throwing’ that on! Them shits didn’t even do numbers on the Africans’ bootleg stands! Swag wise I could never say he was impactful as say a Jim Jones (hate or love him,his gear game is on point)! 50 just came out & killed em in other ways when he ran this rap shit! That’s a whole other discussion.

agreed@50 cent refusing to conform to consumer friendly trends. It’s rare to see any 90’s folk (*80s baby) dressed as skaters anyway. Not that theirs nothing wrong with it, I understand the generational gap. we just grew up in a baggy era, I’m not with the dressing in tighter pants and skate board vans. The only thing I found wrong with what 50 said was its not hip-hop I think skateboarders rap too; i just don’t care for their fashion.
For the record: I’m a bucket hat and newspaper hat fanatic; cept i would go a little more high-end then the lacoste or kangol bucket; John Galliano has some nice head gear. I’ll wear those no matter whats considered trendy.

Moviesss……nah his shits ain’t classics like that to me! Lotta them joints headed to BET Blackbuster cinema shortly! Please believe! And headphones, even if they’re moving units…I wont give him too much credit or the “he’s a business genius” shout his superstans always give him because that move is a clear cut rape & rip off of Dre’s idea! Im sure its generating even more to his empire/wealth but no points for that!

It has nothing to do with the “look” – - it has ALL to do with the music. People just aren’t interested in hearing 50’s music. And at the same time 50’s music is no where near as GREAT as it was early on in his career. Add those two facts up and you have an artist struggling to grab the masses attention.
I like 50. Unfortunately his time proley has come and gone. Listen to what he says ” I’m tryna out do what I’ve done before” – - thats not how creating great art happens. Artist that last decades are ever evolving and growing. 50’s chasing “Get Rich or Die Trying”. And sadly he’ll NEVER be able to recreate that moment in time. Or recreate that music.
But don’t feel bad for him… He’s had more than enough success in music. In business period for the matter. Dude had a full career’s worth of success in 2 albums.

i get what you’re trying to convey but i think that’s the problem 50 cent always goes back to saying”it feel like i’m starting again or it feel like my first album” it should feel like wheres hes @ now. thats what seperates greatness from average rappers (Pun, Biggie etc all changed their perspective once they reached success they didnt try to recreate their first body of work)
In my opinion he shouldn’t try to out-do himself he should just give an honest interpretation of his current situation; theirs nothing wrong with being rich and not being in that environment anymore he can rap about his current problems.
point in case, hes applying a formula that he used ten years ago; times have changed if he would use some innovation in his music with a fresh perspective im sure he’d be successful. I always check for his new music; i do love his aggressive content but i need growth from him artistically just like his personal life.

Isn’t that what Jay-Z is doing, but everybody say that is now disconnected with his fan because of his new luxury rap? I think 50 Cent should go back on tour, reconnect with is fan, push his new music during show and get people exited again for a new album.

Good point; I wont debate that Jay has always tried to express his new financial/social space artistically, but Ill quote 50 cent Jay-z is the “cool nerd” in hip-hop. I doubt him and 50’s view will ever be the same even if they’ve transitioned to corporate America and have made millions. The point was 50 doesn’t have to revert to his first album; content or subjectively to feel like he cant create another classic. And in all fairness; since you pin-pointed luxury rap I Just think that its a thin line between have and have nots its all how its expressed. Id love to hear 50’s take on it.

I agree. 50 has the classic I don’t want to grow up mentality when it comes to his music. Yes, I understand that he wants to express the harsh realities as he says but what’s going on in his life right now? That’s what he should be trying to express, not what was going on before GRODT.

Yeah 50 expresses the harsh realities and I think thts the problem he’s too real on the song then days went by he talks about his grandfather, uncle being drunks and his other uncle being a crackhead that stole drugs from him, money from grandmother and how it hurt him when she thought he was the thief that right there is a reality for a lot of ppl even mr maturity jay z it bugs me out when 50 speaks reality he’s corny he needs to stop cause he doesn’t live that anymore but rick ross talks that bullshit its considered good music and entertainment even tho sellin weight right off the iphone is the dumbest things a drug dealer or ex dealer should ever think of and say why ppl don’t appriciate the real shit anymore
October 21st, 2011 at 12:42 pm
I think 50 career is done and he is the only to blame for it. Times changes, music changes, style changes, audience changes, and 50 just refuses to accept that. Continues to bash anyone artist that is changing with the time to stay relevant.
I will give him props are feeding a million people but why can’t he just feed a million people why does it have to be linked to some social media. It has already gotten him a lot of press to begin with.
And I’m just not feeling 50 cent whole I’m still a gangster vibe in his tracks. GROW UP 50, you were smashing Chelsea Handler who talked multiply times how nice you are. I just think he trying to keep up a hood/gangster image when it comes to his hip hop audience but then flip it and try to keep a smart/dressed/hollywood vibe when it comes to his movie/entertainment audience. Just not buying it at all.

I understand your comment and I have to respectfully disagree with it.. To imply that money changes a person from what they were for the major learning parts of his or her life completely if a false out look of how life works..
There isn’t a switch that can be flicked.. and boom you forget what it was like to struggle.. I’m all for growth in 50’s content.. And I also like it when he finds ways to tell fans in music some of the shit he went through growing up.. That is what an artist is supposed to do.. Make the consumer see their world with a beat and lyric..
50’s biggest problem isn’t what he says in a rap… It’s the stucture in the song that has fallen on deaf ears.. Meaning the beats, the feature, the hook, the mood, and everything else is just a dated sound.. If he were to update his music with the same content he will win… Because as much as people want to see him lose… There are those waiting to see if he can do it again
