50 Cent Takes His ‘Street King’ Initiative to Somalia (Video)

The grind continues, as ABC Nightline travels with 50 Cent to Somalia in support of the United Nations World Food Program and his Street King initiative. During their visit, 50 got to meet and dance with kids and serve food to families. If you haven’t done click “like” on Street King’s Facebook page, as every click feeds a person.

What if i like then unlike the page? Does the starving Somalian get the food snatched from his/her mouth?
I’m always skeptical about these philanthropy/aid campaigns. 9 times out of 10, they’re paternalistic garbage

It’s good to see 50 Cent growing as a person, and he genuinely seemed moved by the effects of poverty and famine can have on people. I have to say though that I hate the way Nightline described him as “unlikely” or “surprising”, also the way they described Somalia as some lawless place. Somalia is not a failed State because technically it was never an actual State. Somalians adhere to a tribal law called Xeer.

So, the reporter took the time to take some pot shots at the man helping the poorest of people out. Seems like the reporter was a bit jealous of 50’s lifestyle and money.
But if the same reporter was interviewing Arnold Schwarzenegger. Would he be making the same remarks? I’m not sure he would. Can’t people understand the difference between art and real life already.

i know you hate JayZ & all but until you can present the math to back your argument up, don’t assume Jay wasn’t doing it big for his charities as well. and just because it wasn’t televised and you dont see it, doesn’t mean it wasn’t happening

The reporter doesn’t know shit. Even to suggest that what 50 Cent is doing by investing in and feeding people in need would be a negative reflection to his image among those of us here who listen to hip hop is a fkin idiotic statement. Yeah, we all hate our people overseas and despise seeing rappers do anything good for them. What’s he expect us to say ‘Oh 50 is feeding people in Somalia.. Fuk his records then that nukka ain’t hardcore.’
Curtis should ride with some black reporters or some white guy who doesn’t have his head up his ass.

It’s a a sad irony that so much attention is paid to when entertainmers, particulary hip-hoppers are engaged in non-productive activities, but when it’s constructive this crab-in-the-barrel mindset comes out against them. I haven’t heard most of these so-called “concerned” rap folks making any overtures to support his effort of launch one of their own. The apathy of today is sickening. This generation is f*ck*d!!!

This is a prime example of how FUCKED up news programs are. Especially in America.. I hope ya’ll Americans watch episodes like this with an open mind and build your own interpretations because the way in which they manipulate shit out there is crazy..
