50 Cent on Tim Westwood’s show: “You got Jay-Z in trouble, he said something about me first, on your show”
Posted by Miss Info under beef , quotes , videos[84] Comments
My UK big homie, Tim Westwood had a big show tonite (and not just because I’m on it, lol), across the pond on Radio 1. Along with a live interview and freestyle from UK star Giggs (I’ll include that after the jump), Tim also had 50 cent on the program (or is it programme?), and it didn’t take more than a minute for Fif to get to his current agenda…Jay-Z. But is this beef similar to the sound of one hand clapping?
Above is a video clip of 50 and Tim…and below, the full audio clips from the show.

On the topic of 50 vs Jay-Z, in Fif’s recent Rolling Stone interview, he accused Hov of having a god complex and said: “I’d love for him to say something he’s not supposed to say about me. The difference is the last guy he competed with was Nas, and he lost. Nas just didn’t keep his business intact, and later had to submit and sign under him, so we couldn’t acknowledge that he beat him when they had to compete.”
That Tim Westwood x Giggs interivew after the jump….

50 has steadilly declined, people don’t care about him as much, he’s numbers are becoming embarrasing, Men Lie Women Lie numbers don’t. It’s a huge drop. Carter III experienced 500K downloads according to google and still went platinum in 1 week. 50 been promoting this album for years, it was a predictable album that’s why people did not rush to the stores.
50 can argue he sold just as much as Jay-Z did in 4yrs but there is no award for that. Plus it’s not true.
This Mr International title he’s claiming, is the same argument he came with when Kanye beat him. It didn’t work then, it’s not going to work now.
When he argues, Jay-Z or Defjam albums can be bought with marketing dollars. When you do the math, clearing samples, studio time e.t.c it does not add up.
We gotta step back and see who is the best lyrically, who puts out the better material. Who does the better shows and Jay-Z wins in that category. A lot of rappers don’t travel as much as 50.
DMX, JA RULE, Ludacris, LOX, Wu-Tang,Redman e.t.c These are all artists who make just as good music as 50 if not better but do not travel as much. Not only that but hip-hop is still growing and finding new markets that weren’t there when Jay, DMX, JA were doing their thing, so I don’t get 50’s argument.
He respects KRS One but does he feel he’s a better rapper because he sold more? Rakim? Kool G? Kane?
Competition before 50 came in the game was about who had the best material. 50 made it about numbers and now those numbers are coming back to haunt him.
I thought i’d get my 2 cents in before this blog gets flooded.
50 does not even make great diss records though, it’s mediocre raps with a lot of talking at the end, lyrically he won’t see Jay-Z. Jay-Z is doing his own thing I wonder why 50 is so concerned about Jay-Z’s career when he’s supposed to be focused on his own.
Peace out!

The funny thing is, because Jay-Z did not tour as much internationally early on in his career. He can go and tour now, that’s why the $150 Mil Live Nation deal makes sense.
His old classics will sound like New classics to people who were not into hip-hop or Jay-Z back then.
Jay-Z owns all his masters so you know those royalties are outta here.
Meanwhile 50 Cent has exhausted his getting shot 9times to the max, Everybody is aware of Get Rich numbers. 50 just needs new material and a better marketing. Beef is stale it’s time to accept he needs to be an artist again to sell music.
He’s a marketing genius selling mediocre products, that’s the problem. It’s about the art of hip-hop.

Go add up the album totals from 50’s first 2 albums fuck is all 4 including the flop! Then go take a look a Jazzy totals and add those all up to reach what 50’s done in 4 albums and see how many years of Jazzy career sales wise has he covered in 4 albums!!!At least the first 13 YEARS!
O and with those 360 deals you fork over your publishing.. read up on that!!!
But whatever I’m off this.. been posing less and less on this board for a reason..

RIAA monitor and review state and federal laws, regulations and policies. They also certify Gold, Platinum, Multi-Platinum™, and Diamond sales awards, as well as Los Premios De Oro y Platino™, an award celebrating Latin music sales.
That being said
http://www.riaa.com/goldandplatinumdata.php?table=tblTopArt
JAY-Z 27Million USA sales Page 1
50 CENT 11Million USA sales Page 3
Get Rich or Die Tryin’
RIAA certification: 6× Platinum
The Massacre
RIAA certification: 5× Platinum
GRDT 12Mil sold WW Massacre 10Mil Hence the statement of 2 albums selling 5 million worldwide.
Jay got 7 1X platinum albums
1 album that is 5x Platinum album
3 albums that are 2X platinum albums
3 albums that are 3X platinum
11 debuted at number 1 all platinum.
Vol. 2… Hard Knock Life 5X Platinum 9million WW
The Black Album 3X platinum, 9million sold worldwide.
He has 2 more albums that sold 4 Mill worldwide.
When 50 talks about the albums that sold 400K he’s talking about Reasonable Doubt which is est 500K worldwide Platinum in the US
In My Lifetime, Vol. 1 the same but Platinum in the US.
Where’s you link “big”? 50’s statement is incorrect because he means to say he sold more records during he’s debut than Jay did when he started, once again there is no award for that.
Why can’t someone correct him? Everybody has access to that information, it’s public record. Are we watching 50 Cent Self Destruct?
big I honestly couldn’t care less if you didn’t blog here ever again.
Highest selling artist has 2 Pac, Eminem and Jay-Z no mention of 50 Cent.

JZ w/ 20 plus albums… 20 plus. That includes Greatest hits, compilations etc. HAS ONLY SOLD 50 MILLION RECORDS WORLD WIDE!
50 w/ 6 plus albums, when you include G-Unit albums, has sold 30+ MILLION RECORDS WORLD WIDE.
The numbers in fact DO NOT lie. Statistically all 50 would have to do is sell garbage albums from here on out to reach JZ’s numbers. Realistically is that gonna happen? No. But I do see what 50 was saying when he said “numbers don’t lie”
Don’t get it twisted, I don’t like 50 but let’s be real.
JZ been in the game for how long and released how many albums and is ONLY @ 50 mill records sold WW (World Wide)?!
50 is talking $#!+ because w/ 6 albums under his belt, he’s ONLY 20 mill WW records away from reaching JZ’s current numbers.
If JZ was SO great and 50 was SO “trash” the numbers should NOT be that close w/ only 6 albums from 50 and 20 PLUS from JZ.
I repeat:
20+ albums from JZ w/ (ONLY) 50 mill sold WW.
6+ albums from 50 w/ (How’s he that close?) 30+ mill sold WW.

I appreciate your opinion, however, I must point out that, 50 Cent has saturated both the current National & International hip-hop markets.
Meanwhile, Jay-Z has only started to tour, which means he’s exploring new markets for the Jay-Z brand.
Having powerful partners such as Live Nation helps him to strategically penetrate those markets successfully.
Glastonbury 08 is a perfect example, he performed in front of a record audience who knew little about him, it was predominantly a Rock Audience. We woke up the next day to great reviews and his previous albums i.e Black album charted as high as the Top 40 charts years after it’s release. He performed 27 tracks.
He has a diverse discography that caters to all hip-hop fans.
Now 50 Cent got bottled in similar markets
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWvvF95ju9k
This was in 2004 when 50 was hot.
Now if you feel 50 Million is close to 30 Million. Thats a matter of opinion.
Jay-Z just sold 1.3Mil US and another Million Plus Internationally with Blueprint 3
50 Cent will struggle to go gold, if you think it’s a walk in the park for 50 Cent to sell another 20Mil to catch up with Jay-Z who has another 2 albums contractually with $10 Mil advance on each album, it’s up to you.
I’d like to see 50 Cent do a show @ MSG, I think it would be interesting to see how the fans respond. Just a thought.

I’m thinking ppl forget when Jay-Z came into the game in the 90’s the market wasn’t the same as it is the 2000’s. Let us rewind our memory clocks and go back to 50’s first album he was trying to get rich by robbing other artist, Power of the Dollar. Side note Rihanna sold more than 50, damn Jay is this a “subliminal”???

Thanks for keeping this a clean conversation.
You mention 50’s international success was do in part to going on tour? Or were you implying it? You said “Jay-Z has only started to tour, which means he’s exploring new markets for the Jay-Z brand” when in FACT that’s untrue. JZ had been touring for years doing international venues before 50 was even “hot”.
Furthermore, 50 didn’t start touring heavy internationally until he had found out his success w/ his first album. So that excuse doesn’t work.
This is why I feel like 50 mill and 30 mill are close. You have to take into account these artists discography/WW(World Wide)numbers:
JZ: 20 albums. 50 mill sold WW.
50: 6+ albums. 30 mill sold WW.
20 albums in comparison to 6+ albums?
Yes I do think that 30 is close to 50 if you compare the number of ACTUAL albums/discs that have been released.
It should be a JZ blow out. But it’s not.
For the person that said, “compare the markets of today compared to wen JZ was out” or w/e, it’s MUCH more difficult to sell an album in the 2000’s w/ technology the way it is, than it was back in the 90’s. BIG, Pac, and DMX sold well.

I think this comversation is going to become repetitive and boring.
Curtis is at 0.2Mil sold US
BP3 is at 1.3Mil sold US
Jay-Z has a $10Mil per album budget
50 Cent’s contract is almost up.
If BISD does T.O.S numbers because the debut was in the same range, the math is approx.
20000000/400000= 50
That is 50 albums to catch up to Jay-Z. Who will not stop recording or selling records he continues to do so as you read this comment.
If you read the article again. I never said Jay-Z does not tour, I said he does not tour as much as 50 Cent, who’s been doing it since he came out, even when Jay-Z was retired.
If 50 could sell another 20 Million records effortlessly Jimmy would have already extended that contract, we’ll see how that turns out, honestly I couldn’t care less, I just want good music and not to be treated like a fool, I don’t like it when people report false information that’s my only issue with 50 Cent.

It’s interesting. Just when people seem to have a solid position to stand on in “opposing” Jay they over do it and end up just sound like their complaining. Jay had nothing to do with the sales of BISD so why is he so deep in thought about Jay and his mindset and his position. If 50 worried about his own “space” as much os others he’d be much better off. He’s talking about Nas, Jay, Beyonce…….smh.

I feel regardless of the fact if JAY said ” no one is…..” 50 continously goes on about JAY z, i mean damn what response does he want. 50 really is pissed off that jayz is ignoring him and im quite sure jayz has no conversations about 50 anywhere but maybe with beyonce or bleek but if he did have convo’s with peepo im quite sure they would have posted it by now. JAY ignores 50 like 50 cent is dead and JAY does’nt like to disrespect the dead….lmao
but truthfully i think damn 50 knock it off, nas is cool with jay and that was a great battle for hip hop. i can see now if jay got in 50 ass lyrically, 50 would want to fight, why cuz he thinks as a adolescent, just listen to the violence this 35yearold man portrays on bisd. jay 40, 50 5 from 40 and going about thingz like a teenager….shit it is lame now. i didnt even need to listen to the interview cuz lately 50 has’nt said shit worthwhile but i would love to hear yayo and banks take on this and i do mean there actual opinion and not cuz 50 they boss opinion.

The general public is sadly mistaken about 50’s intentions on baiting Jay into a battle, people like to look at 50 as some sort of juvenile aggressor who likes to start fights when in fact that couldn’t be further from the truth. 50 is straight buisness all the time, this man has his eye on the bigger picture with every move he makes. Continue to believe that 50 is in any way bothered by Jay’s success or silence, he has nothing to loose either way. But just think if Jay does decide to respond, the revune that would be generated behind it! Remember this is chess not checkers……

The difference between 50 from Nas and Jay is maturity! I truly think Jay was a fan of Nas and felt slighted when Nas would not get on Reasonable Doubt (probably in Jay’s mind gave him reason to go at Nas and vice versa)! But the truth of the matter is Nas signed to Def Jam and Jay was a Def Jam artist as well as a CEO at the time. So this whole Nas signed to Jay is bull and just an argument for the simple minded people like 50 Cent to attack Nas with (signing a multi-million dollar contract going on your 8th album is no way a lost for Nas no matter who was CEO of Def Jam at the time)! Jay and Nas have both moved on with their lives and has sense recorded together! 50 cent can’t get over the fact that Jay stated: “No one is scared of 50 Cent!” The truth hurts and when your maturity does not match your age you tend to take statements like this to heart and will do any and everything in your power to prove the person who made the statement wrong…but in 50 Cent’s case all he is doing is losing in a one-sided battle with himself! Jay stated: Competition for me is Nas and Em!” Let it go 50 you are no competition for Jay!!!!

Myopic folks lik 50 and his likes try to make it look like Jay owns defjam and Nas signed under him and will be executively producing Nas’s album which is so lame.50 need to make hits or die trying.

50 cannot claim what he makes is GOOD hip hop- I mean Baby by me is GARBAGE but it will definitely get him COMMERCIAL radio spins. 50 replaced Ja Rule in the singing rappers genre so seriously he should opt to stay in his lane. His only true hip hop album was his first (in my opinion)and that is still fire, his subsequent work….not so much.

Jay once said “1st they love you then they hate you then they love you again”
Let the public miss you stopp all that JAy dicking in every interview it just make you look lame and desperate…. you Nver mention yayo, banks and what there project is going to be banks been putting out a few music but you havent mention them since ya;ll got drop talk about that ,,, Interviewers talk about Jay cause thats what they wanna know not about you ,, i would be mad that im”so call 50″ and every where i go they ask me about hov.. you the one that should be saying “NO BODY SCARED OF JAY ” lol but instead you trying to prove your not and thats so lameeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

You this is getting so boring to me, talking about another man’s business is not gonna get you respect homie, Jay said one line about this guy, he turned in Confucious because of one line. His unending quest to prove himself to the public clearly shows where he is as an artist.

When is 50-Hammer I mean MC-Cent gonna just give it up. It’s time he let go of his little man crush and move on go beef with TI of Jada or something, oh wait they rap better then you too and out sold you with there last albums as well never mind. Maybe he can prop Ja-Rule back up for another go around cause he aint fucking with the God MC. Doesn’t matter how many records you sold back in the day buddy cause the drop of is staggering which only verifys the claims that many have said for years. 50-cent is a product of hype. He happened to enter the game on the coat tails of a legendary history making artist and producer Eminem and Dr. Dre in a time when hip-hop music was reaching it’s cross over and business peak. Jay-Z came in when hip-hop was still looked at as a niche genre went all through it’s rise to marketing prowess from video music box to TRL from shiny suits to street hip-hop to skinny jean hipsters Jay-Z was always a staple 50-cent was simply a trend and like most trends the act gets old its expiration date is up and the people have moved on so please tell me why wont he already. Nelly sold a ton of records back in the day too is he now a great rapper. 50-Cent is just the next incarnation of MC Hammer, Nelly, DMX… artist that came on the scene like a flash of lightning with alot of energy and success but just as quickly disappeared and lost all relevance. When people talk about the greatest rappers ever no one mentions 50-cent, Jay-Z might not be your number one be he’s at least always mentioned. And when people hear Dead Presidents or Can I Live or Brooklyn’s finest or 99 problems and so on no one is gonna talk about how many copies it sold but those songs will always always be hot in every decade, but baby by me…not so much.

IF YOU MAKE THE HIP-HOP TABLOIDS IT DONT MAKE YOU A RELAVENT HIP-HOP ARTIST.
LETS USE 50′S EXAMPLE LOOK AT BRITNEY SPEARS SHE WAS ALL OVER THE NEWS WHEN SHE WAS SHAVING HER HEAD AND SPEAKING IN FUNNY ACCENTS , BUT WHEN SHE HER SHIT BACK TOGETHER , SHE AINT ON NOTHING , IF YOU THINK BEING ABLE TO BE THE BIGGEST CELEBRITY JACKASS TRANSLATES INTO INTEREST , YOUR DEAD WRONG. LINDSAY LOHAN STAY ON TMZ AND SHE CANT EVEN GET A ACTING JOB.
YOU DONT SELL OR MAKE PEOPLE LIKE YOU BY JUST BEING SEEN AND HEARD.
YOU SELL BY BEING LIKED.
ALL THIS THIS NEGATIVE SHIT FROM HIS MUSIC TO HIS BEEFS MAKE PEOPLE NOT LIKE HIM.

Ok fine your right he is still relevant; but now 50’s relevant the same sense as Kim Kardashian is relevant. Relevant for controversy and media coverage not for a particular contribution of substance, and certainly not musically relevant in todays landscape. I don’t even have to say anything about it, the album sales say it all. Hey maybe he should bang Kim K and make a sex tape at this point he’s tried everything else, and it did do wonders for Ray J’s career.

u guys can’t be serious.. if any of u actually listened to BISD you’d realize it wasn’t as bad as u think. People shot 50 down WAAAAY before his album came out. when his album finally did come out a lot of people didn’t even know. Meanwhile Jay’s album came out when? like around 9/11?? to commemorate the 1st Blueprint?? thats 1. 2.) in the 90’s people actually HAD to buy albums unless they were bootlegged. There wasn’t I-Tunes or other sites to download music. From what i’ve read a lot of people went platinum easily back then. 2003 was arguably the biggest year in Hip Hop in terms of being mainstream and that was the year Jay was supposed to retire hence the Black Album. 3.) You guys saying Jay is so much better than 50 lyrically rite now, i don’t think so. He’s obviously better but going off of BP3 this wasn’t as good as Blueprint 1 lyrically just like BISD wasn’t as good as GRDT. Jay had good production on every song on BP3 which made up for the lyrics. THe majority of beats on BISD were hard street beats that turns people away because they don’t like that kind of music. Does that make the music wack?? no. 4.) Baby By Me was no where NEAR as commercial as Empire State Of Mind. IMO Jay sold off of that one song.
Bottom Line Jay is lyrically better than 50 and has a much bigger fan base in the U.S. but don’t act like 50 is so garbage or that he is so commercial because Jay is def more commercial rite now.

The name calling, talk of numbers, Jay scared, 50 a bum, blah, blah, blah. For me its about the music. Who has made the best music consistently?
Off topic you have any info on the huge rumor of Jay, 50, and Nas putting out a remix to “Empire State of Mind?” Sounds far fetched, however intriguing to say the least.
If this comes to fruition….Beans loses again, which is and will be sad.

Off the subject: Check out R Kelly new album, the man got some joints, to me its knocking DOUBLE UP. The “BE MY #2″ is sure fire, i think he can bring back disco with that tune and by doing a whole album like he did STEP MUSIC. The song ELSEWHERE is beautifully sung and produced.TEXT ME, BANG’N DA HEADBOARDS will still be getting played when summer arrives. CRAZY NIGHTS is fire, i wish he would put more reggae artist on that track like ELEPHANT MAN, MOVADO, SEAN PAUL and even some latin flava from DADDY YANKEE. R KELLY GOT THE BOMB 4REAL!
Alright back to the subject, squash this shit 50 and JAYZ, PLEEZ!
