50 Cent on G-Unit Reunion With The Game: “I Decide That”
Posted by Andy B. under beef , interview[9] Comments
Just a few days ago The Game pledged to his fans a petition for a G-Unit reunion. The website, GUnitReunion.com, may have gathered over 11,000 online signatures in two days, but the rapper’s former group mate-turned-foe 50 Cent isn’t playing ball. “You’re not gonna get nothing back together. I decide that,” he declared in a new interview with The Boombox. The Queens rapper went onto gripe about Game’s efforts for popularity, calling his new-found interest in a reunion just another publicity stunt. We all kinda saw this coming, didn’t we?
You’re not gonna get nothing back together. I decide that. I do what I want to do. I don’t give a f*ck what they talking about on a blog post.
Every time there was nothing going on [Game] said “F*ck you, 50,” to generate some sort of new interest. But now that doesn’t work anymore. So you gotta figure out a new way to do it. And now it’s saying, “We’ll get G-Unit back together!”

I wonder who’s looking out for a G-Unit anything. To me G-Unit is a relic of the past, Wu Tang Clan, Murda Inc., Boogie Down Productions, Duck Down, Diggin’ In the Crates…to name a few crews.

There are no crews out here close to Wu Tang. Boogie Down Productions had only one star (1.5 if you include the brief rise of D-Nice). Murda Inc had two (Ja and Ashanti). Wu-Tang had like four guys going gold or platinum at once (Meth, Rae, Ghost, ODB) at their peak. No one’s effing with their run as a crew, not then or since. Most crews have one star (even new crews like Black Hippy). Don’t throw Wu Tang out there like they’re a regular crew, their run is LEGENDARY.
Compare the solo success of Wu with the individual success of any crew…even at the height of Death Row, the only folks beside Snoop that they got popping from the original crew that appeared on “The Chronic” was Dogg Pound. SMH.
Only parallel is Native Tongues, as far as messing with Wu from a critical acclaim and commercial success perspective. Wu’s cultural impact is incredible, though, they’re the ones that brought the East Coast back, no other hardcore East Coast artist was doing Wu numbers in 93. And they did it without putting out obvious radio singles (like Big remixing his joint with an Isley Brothers sample). Even Juice Crew only had one guy really putting up numbers, Biz Markie of all people…

Co-sign. the Wu spawned a culture unto itself which is still generating a following to this day.
