Well well well, it seems that Mr. Jackson is making a play for this summer’s playlists. After being relatively quiet for a month (which is an eternity up in Farmington, CT), Fif announced that he’s dropping a new mixtape on Tuesday called “War Angel.” And then he’s reteamed with my legendary co-worker Mr. Cee for the 2nd annual July 4th “Sincerely Southside” mixtape….Last year’s 4th of July mix was a cross-generational hit with Fif rapping over 80’s R&B classics. And this year, him and Mr. Cee are pulling out the 90’s instrumentals (Gina Thompson?!! Can’t wait!)

As for “War Angel,” 50 described it to MTV…
“It’s not a specific target, a specific person, I’m writing about…When you hear it, out of all the material I put on the street, you’re gonna say that’s the best body of work I put out in the mixtape circuit, period. The way the mood of music is right now, when they hear what this is, they’ll say, ‘That’s what we needed.’ ”
