50 Cent knows 50 Cent, and Drake is no 50 Cent, lol

Hmm….I’m not sure on the fuzzy math of Sylvia Rhone/Universal spending money to develop Drake so that he’s worth signing. Maybe because the songs also have their artists Lil Wayne on them? But at any rate, Fif tells the homie Carl Chery at XXL that the difference between his early mixtape buzz pre-Get Rich, and Drake’s current mainstream (couched as underground) buzz….is that “it wasn’t possible for my music to be on the radio when I was coming. You know mine’s was completely organic…..When you hear a song on the radio it means it’s being worked.”

I hope Drake stays independent. It’s a lot better getting $7-8 dollars a sell then a few cents. If you made it this far, stay your own boss.

drake has been signed for a minute, they’re just milking the buzz….and that $7-8 dollars a album isn’t really a reality. the money that the artist put into pushing their projects on a indie kinda ends up being a wash…..if the money was that good established artist that don’t need a buzz (ie puff, 50, jay…) would have gone indie a long time ago instead of doing things like leaving arista to go to atlantic…jada would’ve went to kock/e1 instead of from interscope to def jam, etc..

Problem is 50 is too smart for his own good…every time I see an interview he is analyzing and over thinking stuff. He was better when he was just a dude from Queens. Plus now the music is not believable…when has he EVER had an altercation w/ anyone since Ja Rule?? I cant listen to you say you will do this and that and NOTHING happened to Fat Joe..Nas..Wayne..Game..Buck…Nothing at all….so where is all this aggression coming from?? Fam…I just saw you with Bette Middler ..yeah..Bette Middler…talking about doing a collab…now you are a WAR ANGEL??? SMH…GTF Outta Here!!

Maybe you don’t understand the road that people take when they hit a certain level. Do you think a person thats worth the money is worth would actually touch someone. If you know how much more of a broader fan base he will get by making that move with Bette Midler. Come on man get out the hood with that mentality.

How much more of a fan base does he need??? He sold 10 million FIRST ALBUM…you sound stupid…50 is doing it to himself and fading into obscurity…Do you see videos on the web from G-Unit performing anywhere in the US??? No…because no one gives a damn anymore. He got rid of the 2 hottest members of the click…He needs Buck & Game back….yayo and Banks have NO MOTIVATION or DRIVE to do music…
So like I said…I need to see 50 really be on some of this #$)(# he always talks on the mixtapes and then mayyyybe I will think about downloading. Cuz I don’t buy ish.

all 50 does is do interviews and analyze everyone else (hate) and for all his smartness (jealousy) he cant take his own advice and put out good music since he seems to know so much about what the public (his favorate word to insult the listeners like we are all sheep with no brains)will do and want and all this rubbish he talks all he does it talk no album yet just hate on everyone your not t.i wayne drake kanye who actually make music people like and then analyize some more and then make stupid statements in interviews like everyone is only concerned with sales and not making good music when he was the one who was always all about sales and making manufactured formula tailored hot garbage

Why all the hate when the man makes good points. Think about it, which artist you know have a big hit on the radio without majors backing it. Believe it or not it takes money to get your songs push or airplay. Big examples Soulja boy he a big buzz with superman but only on myspace then collie park picked it up and signed him.

yeh he may be right thats not my beef my point is he is forever talking about other ppl like a gossip bitch instead of just puttin out music for someone who claims to just know it all he doesnt do anything wheres the music which is what all this is about theres no music to back up his shit talkin so its just shit talkin
June 25th, 2009 at 1:22 pm
He’s got a point most of Drake’s mixtape music has air play, 50 joint was straight street and disrepectful to the whole industry. Cats like me and my dudes listen to that all day in the hood, wasn’t no air play. He was feeding the street what they needed. Drake is feeding the ladies, and I can’t knock that either cause he’s doing his thing.

You said it perfectly Miss Info “mainstream couched as underground buzz.” LOL
There’s nothing wrong with that tho. Drake screams mainstream and chicks are loving him and they will be the ones buying his ish. He has a cute song, but the new kid does nothing for me in the make my panties type way at all. I guess you have to be a tweener.
But on the other hand fif is right, his buzz was more organic because you couldnt play most of his mixtape jawns on radio. Drake’s ish is written purely for radio popdom.

people who keep saying independent only look at the money earned not the money you have to spend on marketing and promotion, does Drake have the bank roll necessary to successfully promote himself getting radio play is one thing but there’s alot more to it than that, there’s distribution, ads, commercials, etc. you have to spend money to make money so you have to have the proper banking to make a good splash, that’s why the option of going with a major would be more attractive to most, because they have the dollars to push behind you, and yea you won’t make real money off of your cd, but you could be touring way more and demanding a higher tour rate because you could be getting proper placement. it’s not all good being independent, it’s almost like running a biz, do you have the skill set to be self employed or not

I am so tired of 50 he gets on my nerve his voice is annoying. I honestly wish someone would come out with a song about him, dissing him so hard he wouldn’t have anything to say not even a nice comment. I hope that Drake keep doing his thing and he is not only making music for the ladies he mking it for everyone. I hope in this l hope he keep focused and make the correct decisions.

I think Aubrey has money to work his singles because he saved a lot of money on his car insurance…you know, because he looks like a geico caveman.
There is undoubtedly some money behind this kid, most likely from someone who wears a suit and tie to work. The lyrical ability is not there to warrant being on a track with Jay, Wayne…etc, absent a marketing push.
What makes him different from Nick Cannon? why do I have to switch my radio 3 times before i can get away from “you-da you-da best”?

is ny and la hip hop dead? seems like all the big names in the game are coming from chitown, atl, new orleans, and now toronto. seems ironic because hip hop is an urban thing and ny and la are the most urban places in the US (chitown is too). you’d think a place as big as ny with so many people would have a new name in the game coming out at least once a year. whens the last time a big name came out of ny?

Can we please stop treating this dude like he knows anything. He’s predicted a bunch of shit about the industry that didn’t come true. He said Lil Wayne couldn’t sell a mill in his first week, he said Curtis was gonna sell more the Graduation, he implied that 808’s was gonna be a flop…….anytime any rapper has any kind of a buzz or good record sells he tries to say some label somewhere is buying back albums or paying for a radio station to play there music yet he provides no proof to back it up. I got news for you 50 the reason these artist are doing so well is because they hit the studio hard instead of spending there time investigating other rapers histories and buying there ignorant ass baby moms ugly furs.

It’s funny how when he speaks everyone agrees, he’s speaking truthfully to a certain extent. His songs weren’t in regular rotation but Flex (funkmaster flex from hot97 for you non NYers) used to drop plety of bombs and run his joints back to back when him and the unit were putting out countless tapes and freestyles.
Drake is not underground at all, not even a little bit. You can’t have songs with Mary J Blige & Jay-Z and still be underground.

First off I have to ask…is Drake even a rapper? Sure he raps but, he also sings alot doesn’t that make him more of a singer?
I do give him credit for being the only guy who has been popluar singing and rapping on tracks. There’s Lauryn Hill, Estelle & Drake lol sorry I find that funny.

50s definitely Not HAting on a Dude WHo HASNT ACCOMPLISH a 3rd of what he has….
He was asked if Drake had the Same Buzz he HAd when He was dropping in 03′ and the Answer is NO!!!
50 was Blackballed in the Industry during the Time he was Bubbling on the Mix-tape Circuit cuz Ja and his F* Boys were trying to Sabotage his relationship in the Music Business. When he Affilliated himself With EM & Dre there was No denying him Afterwards, However it Didnt TAke Signing With Shady/AfterMath for his Buzz to Reach the Boiling Point it only Heightened it.
Af for the Drake kid HIs Buzz STarted when he ASSOCIATED Himself With Wayne and only then did People start to PAy Attention to Him
His Records are MAde for RAdio, where As 50s Material back in 02 wasnt allowed to be Played and he Still had the Buzz that was Undeniable
Why would 50 hate When hes worth over 400mill??????? if u can Answer that…but i doubt it!!

Drake will Never have the Same success 50 had in a 7 year span in 10 years. Drake is a Fly By artist who wont be around in the Next 5 years….
I Find It HILARIOUS how Everytime an Interviewer asks 50 a Question about another Artist.. Especially a Artist who isnt Even on his LEVEL Musically or Accomplishments wise and he Gives a Answer u Dont Like hes hater… SMFH lol
50 got the Streets Buzzing right now with WAR ANGEL so i doubt hes worried about what these New Artist are doing
The Funny thing is Drake doesnt even have a Release Date and hasnt Even announce who he signed With, however everyone KNows Silvia Rhone over @ Universal is Doing Everything she can to Bring him there ie; having his Record Worked @ Radio and Paying for Promo….
If u Little Teen bops understood how the Industry Worked then u Would Know that the Corporations who have Controlling Stakes in UMG ie (UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP) which controls Def JAm, Interscope, Atlantic, Zomba/Jive TELL U WHAT TO LIKE IT ISNT UR CHOICE!! … then u would have a little insight into what 50 is telling u

Im confused, maybe fif has totally spoken over my head, but what was “organic” about “In Da Club”? Drakes buzz is coming of off old mixtape songs, and he’s still unsigned, please inform me how that insicates “an industry push”? adn I agree that FIf is not an authority on “talent” and predicting success. Look at his roster, then compare with all the acts he questioned. I’m sorry but this “infinite knowledge” seems a bit inaccurate.

I am not sure who said that Drake has the “50 Cent” buzz but thats def not the case. I will say that Drake has the spot light on him right now with his look, voice, and writing ablity. I mean just look at whats he has done in such a short time. Hell he has a track out with MARY J.
But to say that he has 50 cent buzz isn’t true I mean 50 had the streets on lock. Drake had the main stream on lock right now. I mean lets face it Drake has a song thats getting heavy spin on all channels. Yea its getting paid to be played but no one would pay for something that they didn’t think woud get them a good return on their investment.
I think those that are 50 cent haters listen to that interview and just had nothing but negative feelings if you listen he didn’t diss drake he just spoke the truth.

The question is does Drake have a bigger buzz than when Fifty came out? Fuck no, Fifty was the biggest and hottest thing in rap, his buzz on the street was insane, Drake aint even shit, I dont see what the hype about him is anyway, he aint even dope. he wont blow up, he started to get hype when he fucked with Wayne, anyway, the question is not who has more buzz now, but is his buzz bigger than 02 50, no, and now its alot easier to get shine with the internet and shit, Fifty didnt have that, and he took over music, will Drake take over music? I dont see that happening.

Drake is a great rapper and his buzz is tremendous but it is nowhere near the same as when 50 dropped. Holy shit I can remember so clearly. I spent the summer at my Grandmothers apartment and my god Hot 97 played the mans entire discography up until that point. I swear i heard Wanksta, What Up Gangsta, Many Men, In Da Club and various mixtape joints hundreds of times a week. Jump in a car, turn on the radio, MANY MEN, MANY MANY MANY MANY MEN. lol good times

Yall haters mad cuz aint no one askin yall anything. and yes Drake do sound and move like yeezy/weezy..but he doing his thing..im sure fif dont care. and drake does not have a 50 cent buzz that was all xxl talking tryna start something..and another thing…if ya tired of 50s voice..why watch and listen to the video..it says 50 Cent very clearly…

You know what the sad part is…. what about the music?? what about what he means to the art form?? why does he need to have “swag” for you to say hes good. 50 cent is richer than 99% of the rap world yet doesn’t spend his money on the dum shit these other broke as rappers do. Jay-Z does cuz he likes clothes Diddy does cuz hes into the fashion world(Sean John) but yet cuz 50 doesn’t walk round showing people the reciept from Loius V or telling people he wears Gucci this and Prada that. Wake up people this is the industry trying to sell us a bag of goods that won’t be worth shit in 3 years!!!

I find it so funny that anything 50 says, everybody just becomes a yes man. Anytime an artist whether new or established has any sort of buzz, he always has to say some shit that makes him seem like he’s hating. Who the fuck cares if his buzz was underground or not? And secondly, everybody here is acting like a revisionist as if he put out “Best I ever had,” and it went straight to the radio. The guy built up a buzz since 06 on the internet via mistapes and put out that So Far Gone mixtape in Feb 09 and the shit was fire. How is that not organic????? Why is 50 getting to the mainstream from street buzz any more organic than Drake getting mainstream from internet buzz???
And to everyone who says his music is for teeny boppers, um have you listened to his mixtape????
It seems as if people here still hold the belief that if he’s not from the street then its wack. But I respect this cat for at least keepin it real with himself then ur so called gangsta rappers like 50 who continue to rap about shit they dont even have parts in anymore (if they ever did in the first place)

to some degree I agree with you. On others I have to say I think your wrong. Yes Drakes buzz isn’t fake. Yes I think hes super talented with the range and writing ability he has. Yes he is keeping it real and not doing the Gansta stuff. But to say that 50 shouldn’t continue to rap bout what he knows is crazy. Just cuz he ain’t in the streets no more doesn’t mean he can’t rap about the guy from the streets. Oh and for the record you can look up 50 past and you will find out the truth about “if he ever did what he say he did in the first place”. Come on man you had me til you went there, but I respect your opinion

this is funny stuff…he’s not exactly wrong, but he doesn’t know what he’s talking about and he’s only giving his opinion based on his experience. lol. we have been listening to aubrey for more than 5 years here, while he was working on degrassi, and when he first started writing seriously for other artists and working with producers and getting his music production/dj game on. and the good thing for him is that he started UNDERGROUND, and to a LOT of people he still is…he’s so hyped now, but i remember when it was a real struggle to get any producers to listen to him or for people to use his songs…but he always believed and he worked hard and he made some great connections, has good friends in the business and all, and he got his chance. ya’ll are just starting to tune in to the kid because he’s now “official” but he was just like everyone else in the tdot trying to get on their grind. granted not all of them had his connections or his reputation from being on degrassi. anyways. so good for the kid. all those connections he made first he made ON HIS OWN, without industry backing or nothing and people started taking chances on the kid. so anything that comes his way is well deserved. he’s a godo dude. keep going aubrey. haters need to relax.
