Exactly one week from today, Majid Jordan will take listeners on a journey of ups, downs, and love with their self-titled debut album. Before releasing their latest song “Day And Night,” Majid Al-Maskati and Jordan Ullman spent a few days in New York City on a promo run.

Dubbed Drake’s secret weapon by the New York Times, the OVO Sound duo discussed delivering an LP that has a theme and sets the mood, Jordan learning to mix and master under the group’s previous alias Good People leading up to their After Hours project, being discovered by Drake’s right-hand man Noah “40” Shebib, working on Drake’s smash-hit “Hold On, We’re Going Home,” and escaping to California to record their debut album.

Along with additional insight from Noah “40” Shebib, the New York Times piece gives readers background on the two friends, who first met at a birthday party while attending university.

In their first video interview released online, Majid Jordan spoke with Genius on how the single “My Love” featuring Drake came together. From Drake’s inspiration and idea to producers ILLANGELO (The Weeknd) and Nineteen85 (“Hotline Bling”) bringing the beat to Jordan, watch their breakdown below.
