December 2018

“My OG Gas sound like a echo.” “I treat a bitch better than Petco.” “My VLONE shirt same color ketchup.” “At the spot with your bitch watching Borat.” No offence to TM88, Southside or Lil Yachty, but I’m just here for the Valee quotables.

It’s been almost exactly a year since we last heard from River Tiber (“Patience“), but the Toronto singer/producer, who’s worked with Daniel Caesar, Pusha T and KAYTRANADA and been sampled by Drake, makes his return today with this gorgeous new single “Deep End.” Aside from making you feel like you’re floating through a dream that you never want to end, the song is a reminder of River’s woozy, intoxicating brand of R&B. I really hope we hear more from him in 2019.

Ty Dolla $ign enjoyed a busy 2018, dropping an album with Jeremih and being in-demand appearance on huge projects from the likes of Drake, Nas, Kanye West and more. The musician’s exciting year appears to be ending off on a bad note, with some legal issues. TMZ reports the L.A. native has been indicted by a grand jury on drug charges that include felony possession of cocaine. According to court documents, Ty Dolla Sign is charged on 3 counts — felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of THC and misdemeanor possession of less than 1 ounce of weed.

The charges stem from an arrest in Fulton County, GA, for possessing cocaine and marijuana back in September. If convicted, the 33-year-old (real name Tyrone William Griffin Jr.) could face up to 15 years in prison. Drug laws in the state of Georgia are stiffer than California. Skrillex, who was with Ty Dolla Sign at the time of the arrest, was empty handed as their limo van was searched by local authorities.

Cardi B was a guest on CBS Sunday Morning recently, where she discussed her childhood growing up in the Bronx, her past stripping career, the grind to becoming a pop star and more. Sitting down with CBS’ Maurice DuBois, the Invasion of Privacy rapper touched on the feeling earning her first No. 1 record with “Bodak Yellow” last year. From there Cardi B touches on the connection she has with her fans and being reachable. The hitmaker gives DuBois a tour of her neighborhood, Highbridge, where they visit the grocery store she first worked at and later stopped by the strip club where she first started making major money.

The Grammy-nominated star also touched on her beef with Nicki Minaj, and their rift being unnecessary and bad for business. “A lot of people like to say all publicity is good publicity. To me it’s not. That takes away [from] people paying attention to your craft,” she says. Cardi would also talk on trolls, online haters, and is seen making a surprise visit to her old high school.
