Last night was supposed to be Dave Chappelle’s epic return to stand up comedy, but things seemed to go horribly wrong. Standing before a packed audience at the Comcast Theater in Hartford, Connecticut, Chappelle reportedly started out with the crowd on his side, thanks to some Paula Deen jokes, but things soon turned ugly. Apparently, the crowd lost their interest not long after and began heckling and booing the comic. He then gave a few brief words to the crowd and made his exit after only 25 minutes. Could this be the end of Dave Chappelle on the stand up stage forever?

After engaging some of the heckling politely, Chapelle had enough. “I’ve been up here a while now and I thought it was me but now I ‘m sure it’s you. There is definitely something wrong with you.” he told us. In other words, ‘shut up and let me perform.’ Not many did. Finally, he gave up and took his cigarettes and his water and sat on stage. We saw Rick Ross flex his acting chops in Magic City earlier this year, and now he’s back on the small screen alongside Birdman in their new “50 Plates” video. The YMCMB and MMG moguls throw on their ski masks and stick up a Brinks truck in the latest visuals off the Rich Gang album (out now on iTunes). Who says crime doesn’t pay?

Azealia Banks Lady Gaga

Although Miley Cyrus’ performance and outfit at last weekend’s MTV VMA’s has caused its own little media storm, Lady Gaga’s mermaid costume has left one artist in particular with hurt feelings. Serial beefer Azealia Banks took to Twitter earlier this week to launch a few darts at the Fame Monster, accusing her of stealing her aquatic look. It didn’t take long for Gaga to fire back with a few subtweets of her own, though. Not only did she tweet out a .gif of teary-eyed Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Gaga also shared a link to an image of a mermaid painting by Sandro Botticelli with the hashtag “#SomeOfUsJustLikeToRead.” Me-ow.

Cash Money Records continues to grow and diversify their label with new acts. A budding pop star looks to be the latest addition to YMCMB as teen sensation Austin Mahone has aligned with the home of Lil’ Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Tyga and others. The 17-year-old singer/dancer from San Antonio, Texas made a name through YouTube videos, which landed him a deal with Universal Republic. Birdman and DJ Khaled tweeted on Thursday night, confirming some form of partnership with Mahone’s Chase Records.

Dubbed by many as the next Justin Bieber, Mahone was an opening act on Taylor Swift’s RED tour and chosen by MTV as an artist to watch in 2013. More recently, Mahone performed his current single “What About Love” during the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards pre-show. His debut album, Junior Year, is scheduled to arrive this fall. Looks like that collaboration with his favorite artist may happen after all.
