(photos of Alicia and Swizz after Alicia’s show at London’s O2 Area, via DailyMail)

It was more than obvious to anyone who saw these photos of Alicia performing at the BBC event in Wales over the weekend. And now major media outlets have gotten their public confirmation from “sources” that yes, Swizz Beats and Alicia Keys are expecting a baby and planning to marry later this year. It was good to hear from Swizz before the word got out, he  sounded very happy and very much in love, but that’s been the case for a while now. Their original wedding plans involved exotic locales and an amazing setting but I wonder if those plans have changed now that A.Keys may be a little bit more motion-sickness prone : ) Either way, this is a big deal for both, and for the extended family too. Since babies are a blessing, I hope that this also enables the adults to get to a peaceful place.

Alicia Keys performs in Wales…Looks like a baby bump to me : )

Bun B hit off Nahright with the NMC premiere of his collabo with Young Jeezy off that upcoming Trill OG album….and also, he’s asked the guys to be part of his “Bun B. And Friends” show, next Weds at S.O.B.s.  (Click to buy tickets) The show comes on the day before the VH1 2010 Hip Hop Honors: The Dirty South taping, so….one can only imagine which “friends” will be on hand (in that tiny tiny sweatbox, lol). Can’t wait!

Rick Ross cooked up this mixtape/EP as a prequel to his July 6th Teflon Don album….but if you’re not sure who this Albert character is that Rawse speaks of, he was a hitman for the Gambino Mafia family. Also known as “The Mad Hatter” and the “Grand High Executioner.” But oddly enough, Albert was never referred to as the “Fantastical Furrier” (see after the jump : )

Props to Onsmash for the exclusive!

ok….I know I balked at the hyperbole of James Lipton’s Diddy fawning in the earlier post about Diddy’s appearance on Lipton’s “Inside the Actor’s Studio”….but the show was nicely done, and Vulture posted this hilarious clip of the obligatory “We have a hip hop star here, let us indulge in some rappity role play!”

Diddy hit the beatbox, Lippy tried to rhyme….
Never gonna falter/never gonna stop/running my lip with my own hip-hop/Maybe with this nifty shifty ploy/maybe I’ll be the next Sean Combs bad boy.

And Vulture added the kicker: “We are now eagerly anticipating the Ice Cube episode, in which Lipton and Cube trade verses of “Straight Outta Compton.

Diddy on “Inside The Actor’s Studio”: “I didn’t just play a record executive…[my character] is tri-polar”

Last night, Raekwon and EMI held a private listening session for Rae’s upcoming mixtape, Brinks Boyz Presents Cocainism Vol.2, which drops this weekend at XXLMag. Rae was on hand, passing out the drinks and making everyone feel welcome as he personally played each record, and the mixtape feels more like a solo LP because out of 19 tracks, 17 feature original production. Make sure to look out for standouts “Ms. Sincere”, “City of God” and “Dragon Style”.

Later, I asked Rae if he was still willing to collaborate with Nas even though he failed to make it on OB4CL2. Here’s the backstory: while working on the OB4CL2 album, Rae went public with his frustration about Nas’ absence. But recently, Nas told MTV News that he regretted not being on Cuban Linx 2. So here’s what Rae feels about Nas now…

“I know what [Nas] was going through at the time and I don’t wish that on no man. At the end of the day, I know he still got love for me and I got love for him. Just get yourself right and we gonna make history again.”Raekwon on Nas not being on OB4CL2

Watch video of Rae’s response to Nas, and his comments about the upcoming Rock The Bells tour with Wu Tang. Also, Rae gets a surprise visit from his former Loud A&R’s Schott Free & Matty C (check them out on FrozenFiles radio now!)…

New Music: Drake feat. Jay-Z “Light Up” (Prod. by Noah “40″ Shebib and Tone Mason) (with Evil Empire mixtape tags, via Splash)

The build up for this song has been insane….

Working with Jay was one of the most key moment in my life.” (Drake to DJ Semtex)

there’s a Jay-Z/Drake track that he played for us – minus Jay’s verse. Jay-Z doesn’t let anyone hear his stuff before it comes out. Drake claims it is the greatest verse Jay’s ever done.” (Ace Burpee, Winnipeg Free Press)

It’s real rap…It’s great. The perspective, the dynamic on the track — it’s me and Jay’s relationship on the song, basically. When you hear it, people will be like, ‘Oh man.’” (Drake to MTV)

It was like, ‘Man, this is a moment. This sounds like where I’m at in my life.’ So, we took it and 40 did what he does…Jay-Z’s on it. The song is phenomenal…” (Drake to MTV)

Now 3 weeks away from Drake’s Thank Me Later release, two songs leaked: “Fireworks” featuring Alicia Keys, which Drake has been performing on tour. And, the long awaited Jay-Z duet, “Light Up.” Does it live up to the anticipation?

I love the song already. And I’m genuinely excited to hear the entire album and see him perform at Summerjam next week.

UPDATE 6-1-10: Well apparently someone is slowly leaking all of Drake’s album via video…but that’s no bueno. However, the official untagged version of this Drake x Jay-Z is very necessary, because I was getting worried that a generation of non-savvy listeners would not buy the album and only hear this chopped and screwed-up radio edit….and forever think that Drake says “Like Fredro Star was in Sunset Park stunting hard in his yellow Grammer….” LOL. Thanks to Splash for the CDQ

After the jump: T.I. tells Angie Martinez that he thinks that Drake will go gold (500k+ albums sold) in his first week…Drake talks about “Light Up” back in 2009, before Jay-Z was even on the song…and more

50 Cent has been keeping a low profile lately, but the real reason was because he was losing weight for a movie role, and knew that the change in his looks would be so dramatic that fans may react with horror….Thisis50 posted an US Weekly story on the transformation, in which Fif says he dropped from 214lbs to 160lbs in 9 weeks….by basically starving himself. Now that he’s done with the film, and going back on tour, Fif will probably reunite with his trainer Jay and get back to fighting weight.

Now the movie, Things Fall Apart, called for 50 to play a football player who has cancer, but Hollywood has had other examples of extreme dieting….and it’s interesting because it always becomes the actor’s badge of “dedication to the craft.” See, below, Christian Bale’s scary skin over bone look in The Machinist, and Matt Damon’s turn in Courage Under Fire.

more pics of 50 after the jump…

(video debuted at Essence, thanks for the heads up Tashana/TopoftheWorld : )

aww, this is an amazing video. very melodramatic, very touching. And what’s really sad is that this has happened too many times for many families without the R&B mood lighting…

I can just imagine all the Trey-ettes dabbing at their eyes with kleenex and sighing deeply.

my favorite video in a while.
